Serenity/Equality Now, update

In case anyone was wondering about that whole Serenity/Equality Now thing...

Here's an update, including the preliminary dollar amounts that various showings are sending to Equality Now. I'm so proud of my fandom.

Contra went well last night, and today I ran into a friend from that group, Katie, at the farmer's market. Yay for meeting people I know. I bought spinach, radishes, and a little carton of blissfully summery strawberries. Ohhhh yes. I love fresh strawberries.

And that reminded me that I never updated about maymargaret's party last weekend! It was so fun - Whidbey Island is beautiful, and it was so comforting to be back in the green and cool country air after years spent almost exclusively in the city. I'd almost forgotten what it was like to be so far out, so quiet, with songbirds and beaches around. And the salmon berries were in season, which was a delight because you just don't see those in stores. Huckleberries, too - there weren't many this early in the year, but I managed to grab one. So tangy and bright-tasting, and there are so many memories attached to those things. I used to practically live off them during summers growing up. I'm surprised I didn't bloat out bright red with being full of them. ;)

The best part, of course, was hanging out with a friend I haven't seen in a full year, and, admittedly, listening to her parents and their friends jam out on various intstruments. So much good food, good conversation, and beautiful music - I felt very welcome and at home.

DRAT. Turns out there was a Salt Lake screening ... I just didn't hear about it in time! I am majorly impressed with the total estimate, though ... Browncoats seriously are like the nicest people I've ever met/talked to, and this just confirms that.

Sounds like your weekend was a lot of fun! There really is nothing quite like being away from home, surrounded by friends, listening to them make music. I love that.

Oh no! But yes, the numbers are damned impressive, and you're right - Browncoats tend to be just plain awesome folks. Something about the show just attracts sweet, fun people, it seems like.

I am so totally proud of this fandom too. It is amazing the good that the Browncoats have done, and been able to get together and see the BDM on the big screen again. It's delightful being in this fandom.
