Yeah, that's sort of been tweaking me, as well - there was a lot of stuff in their relationship that I felt could do with exploration (the things you mentioned in particular), and I'm seeing some people deal with it, but... not as much as I'd like.

Which I suppose is good, as it means there's still stuff to do, but it does kind of make me go "what's this fandom been doing with itself all this time?!"

The answer to which seems to be "Lee/Kara," which... makes me sigh.
