The Doctor had never thought much of Halloween - too much of an American import, too much possibility for real weird things to hide around the corners pretending to be normal kids in masks. It was fun, but also a little bit... something, somehow just not quite right.

But on the third visit to New New York - the with Martha, to make up for her getting kidnapped on her first visit, and with plans of going back and finally figuring out what was going on with the Face of Boe, he... well, the time rotor slipped and they ended up right smack on Halloween. Or, rather, Halloween week, because someone high up on New New York's list of glitterati had decided that the holiday would run a whole week, apparently, and the whole city was glittering orange, purple and pale green, with big plasticy pumpkins floating in the air. Sweets literally rained from the sky.

"It seems a bit much," Martha commented, even as the corners of her lips struggled against a smile. "Bit tawdry, y'know?"

"Nahhh." The Doctor reached out and snagged one of the pumpkins. It was, as he'd suspected, full of candy.
