sinus joys

God damn it. That sinus thing that's been haunting me for the last few weeks has finally settled in to roost. This is likely to mean at least a week of me stumbling around zombified and decidedly... hmm. Sinusy.

And so, a question: If, when one was hired, one was told that the company policy was "If you're sick, we'd rather have you stay at home because many of us have small children," does one take that to heart, or assume that sore throat and sinus headache do not apply? At my old job I always assumed that if I could drag myself to class, I could drag myself the rest of the way to work, because if I didn't they would be short-handed for the stuff that needed to get done. And if I did and they didn't need me, they would send me home. I'm not sure how that logic applies to this job. :/

Update: I'm in the office, drinking tea, and hoping that I can convince people to let me go a little early today... maybe a half-day or something like that. Sinus things always hang onto me forever if I don't make a concerted effort to lose them early.

Yeah, they apparently just figured it was really bad headaches. :x And they don't ask you if you have migraine's in the inprocessing center. At the time I had only a few, but like my mother as I get older I have them a lot more often. Actually the first time I was hospitalized was when I was in Oki, funny thing that was when they told me they just considered migraine's to be "really bad headache's" of course this was my CO who told me this so...you know.

Also the asthma thing, that's because of all the physical stuff you have to do in Basic and onwards. They (at the time now it could be different) don't consider migraine's to be physical.

Oooh, warm fluffy bread and chicken broth, now you're starving me. I know what I'm having for dinner and it's a rainy day too. It's fitting.:D

True, true... I guess now that I think of it my cousin made it through a week of Basic and then got diagnosed with the asthma, so that makes a kind of sense. But... dude, the people I've known with migraines are totally non-functional when they get them! You'd think they'd want to watch out for that, with all the trouble it could cause a person in a military situation.

On the other hand, I have Issues with the qualifications system in the military. They do such idiotic things with the rules, sometimes.

It's warm and sunny out here (oh, the irony - that it's raining out there and sunny here where we're infamous for our rain), but damned if I care. I'm sick; I'm going to have broth and bread, damn it. XD

When I get them I just go down, like any sounds, smells, taste everything is just awful. I can't stand any of it I just have to sleep through it. They have some meds out now that deal with migraines but the one I took didn't say that when you take it it makes you throw up cleaning out your system and then apparently you're supposed to feel better. I'm one of those strange people that just.can't.throw.up. So I was even more misrable.

So do I, it's funny really. Before I went it I was the ultimate good girl I didn't rock the boat and didn't swear, I was polite, I respected my elders etc. Then when I went in they treated us like a second rate citizen, the cops anyway. Mainly because we were held to a higher standard, to deal with the overbearing CO's and other officers I just became this loud, swearing bitch just to be heard. Sexism, harrassment it's all there but of course they say that's just because we're in a man's playing field if you want to make it you have to ignore it. Now not all the males were like that but a lot yeah and they were mostly in the senior ranks. Anyway I didn't mean to rant about it, it still is a hot button for me, apparently. :D
