costume woes

So, back when I was deciding on my Halloween costume, I thought "I want to choose something that people might actually have a chance of recognizing this year. Therefore, I shall not perfect my Romana costume (or get a new one, starting from the fact that I now own Romana's straw boater), but shall instead spend a bunch of money putting together a Nuala costume."

I should have known that this would curse me.

Last weekend the Mercury (local goth club) announced that it's throwing a Doctor Who dance party the night before Halloween.

*Headdesk* *Headdesk* *Headdesk*

So now I will be eyeballing my Romana costume from NorWesCon and wondering whether I can find a better frock coat, thinking about how I need a ruffled blouse with shorter sleeves for comfort of dancing, bemoaning the fact that my hair is too short (while also scruffy and over-long to be cute short), and so on... all while knowing that I am already well and truly committed to finishing and spending all the money for the other costume. *Sighs*

(This particularly figures, since I had intended before this announcement to try to find a way to get to the Merc for Halloween in my Nuala costume, on the principle that the goth community is one of the few areas in this city where I figured it'd be appreciated. Alas!

...and with my luck, everybody there will be NewSkool fans and won't get the Romana costume, anyway.)

But hey. Excuse to wear the Romana costume! ♥

The cut of it is just a bit weird, and it doesn't look good when it's closed. Not like that's going to be a problem at the club, I guess. And it doesn't have pockets, which is annoying.

...Basically, I'm obsessive. XD But I'm glad you thought it worked! I'll probably stick with it, if only because for reasons I cannot imagine, frock coats have totally failed to come back in fashion. Alas.

I haven't bought the wig yet, no. I've been... kind of procrastinating because I wanted to check prices at this store downtown, so now I'm pretty much buying from the store downtown, I guess, unless the price/quality difference is significant enough that I want to pay for expedited delivery. So much for planning ahead... :P
