still *more* drabbles!

Two drabbles for [livejournal.com profile] narsilion: Request #1 was Fred and George trying to pick up a Muggle girl.

"Hey, gorgeous."

"D'you like... er... what's-it... telly-vision?"

"Shut up, Fred. What my brother's trying to say is, would you like to go to lunch with us?"

"We know all about M--I mean London. We could show you 'round, maybe?"

"Yup. Cinemas. Cars. Eckeltricity."

"Oy, shut it, mate! Dad's always bumming that up, we can't - damn it, you've lost us another one, George! We'll be in Muggle London all day without a date if you keep this up!"

"No, look, there's another one! Those boots look like they're painted on!"

"'Scuse me, miss. We're trying to find the underground..."

Request #2 was Joe and Methos talking about one of Joe's bad experiences in Vietnam.

As Methos entered the bar, Joe nodded and got out a bottle. Methos sat, staring at the notched dark wood of the bar. "I wasn't sure I was welcome. After Kronos..."

"Hey, I'm not Mac. He's a good guy, but you and me aren't the white knight types, like he is."

Methos nodded, accepting a tumbler of whiskey.

"Guys like us... hell, sometimes you do what you can, and it still ain't good enough. Kids get shot, villages go up, your brothers die, and," he waved his hand toward his legs, "you can't even trust the damned ground underneath you."

And one for [livejournal.com profile] zinjadu, X-Files, with the prompt "Mulder, Scully, and an agreement."

"There's no way, Mulder."

"Come on, Scully... just this once. I swear, I won't ask again."

Scully glared at her partner, hands on her hips. "Yes you will. If I agree once, it'll happen next week, and the week after, until it's a habit. And I don't want this to be a habit, Mulder. I can't go down that road."

"Pleeeeeeease?"

After five years, it still amazed her that a grown man could make such successful puppy eyes. She closed her eyes, counted to ten...

"Fine. We'll order out for pizza. But I get to pick the toppings, and we're not getting that 'meat death' or whatever it is."

Jen... I love you. Seriously. Whooo!

And the first two were great too. ^_^

*Grins* I miss writing Mulder and Scully. They're so much fun. The banter is always a joy.

Grrr... now you've made me download all nine seasons. I'm going to be watching it until June. Wow... 155 hours. That's a long time. Maybe I'll watch it at 1.1x that'll cut out 15 hours.

Yikes - that's a lot of downloading! I admire your patience... myself, I'm content with my old VHS copies, and hopes of snaffling my housemate's DVDs at some point to watch a few favorites I don't have on tape. ;)

[identity profile] otterknit.livejournal.com 2005-04-26 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's only the first season I have to be patient for. It says it'll be done in 20 hours. After that, it'll take me much longer to watch it than it will for the later seasons to finish.... and with bit torrent, each season comes in a nice bundle for me, so it didn't take any trouble to find them. Really, the only down side is having to live with the fact that I'm a bad person. Once I get a job, I'll start buying dvds and cds.... really.

Hee, yeah, I have a lot of battling with morality on the subject of music. No more downloading programs for me... although I still 'borrow' from the housemates sometimes.

I buy software when I can afford it or when I really want to support the authors. I try to use free stuff whenever I can. I've stopped downloading music ever since I started listening to launchcast.

TV shows seem a bit in the grey area. My watching them on TV as opposed to downloading them really doesn't make them any more money. Of course, once they come out on DVD that's a different story, but I can't afford the DVD's right now. Once I have that money, I'll probably buy most of them just to have them for collection purposes anyway. I'd absolutely love to have a shelf of all of the shows I've downloaded so far, and hopefully someday I will. But I'm left to wonder how different downloading them is to borrowing them from my friends to watch them. I do both sometimes.

The real fact is, I've never had anybody respond negatively to the fact that I download things, which really makes it hard for me to feel bad about it... and my reasons for wanting the actual things is more about the feeling of accomplishment for having nice shiny things and the status symbol of being able to claim I have them all, than it is about being a good person. Wanting to support the artists weights in there, but it's hard to pinpoint exactly where, especially after hearing comments from several artists that all their money comes from concerts, not album sales.

I'm debating doing the drabble meme itself, but I have a vague sort of prompt?

Er, if it's okay, that is.

Tavis and Niamh. On the subject of elves.

BTW, I love yours so far. :D I'm not sure I could fit so much into such little space!

Awwww... I miss Tavis! He's so... psychotic. Will do! XD

Thanks! I'm having a lot of fun working within the requirements. It really makes me focus on just one single idea, and makes it easier to fit in with my schedule, too.

My God, Mulder and Scully. I miss that show now. Haven't seen a decent ep in ages. You've done the characterizations marvelously though. Wouldn't miss it so much if you'd butchered them, now would I?

Oh and Gred and Forge crack me up. Yay for twins!

Hee! It's been a long time since I've really sat down and watched an episode, but I always loved the ones with lots of silly banter - "Bad Blood" is still a special favorite of mine.

Yay for Gred and Forge!

SQUEE!!! Those were all so good, Fred and George, Methos and Joe, and Scully and Mulder. I loved them all, thanks so much, they're awesome!
