I have a job. I'm starting at the University Bookstore next Monday - yay for a full week of break without worries about job-hunting or anything like that! I can just have fun. And my schedule after that isn't bad at all - yeah, I'll be working weekends. But I have Thursday and Friday off, my latest shift ends at 9pm, and my earliest time to be in is 10am. Not bad! Not uber well-paying, either, but not a bad starting wage in the slightest, and I feel comfy with the work that will be required of me - a definite bonus after the mess of the old job.

So here I go again, diving back into the working world. This time, in a field I actually give a crap about. With luck, that'll make a difference. I'm still kind of nervous, but I'm also excited.

Another thing I have? A plushy bookworm, from [livejournal.com profile] miss_arel! He's so cute. I need to find a place for him on my bookshelf, so that he'll feel comfy and at home. ♥ (Whoever invented the giant microbes was a genius - see? These things are so adorable.

Congratulations! That sounds like a great job, schedule wise. I have undoubtedly been inattentive, because I should know this, but: what exactly will you be doing there?
Yay, job, and enjoy the time off!

Congrats on the job. :D

Also, I have three of the giant microbes--the bookworm, flesh eating bacteria, and plague. They amuse me so, in such a morbid way..

Nah, I haven't talked too much about it, so you didn't miss much. I'll be working customer service in the textbook department - a little bit of cashiering, some phones, stocking/recovery, data entry... everybody does a little of everything, which is a big plus for me. I like cashiering and stuff, but I'd probably go nuts if I did nothing but that all day long. ;)

There's just something amazingly cute about little plushy viruses and stuff. The bookworm... he's just so perfect. Yay for microbes. ;)

Congratulations on your new job :).

We had those microbe things in school 2 years ago. We were each given one and we had to do a project on the disease that we got given. I always thought they were kind of creepy.

Thanks! A little of both, but mostly customer service. I think that'll make me a lot happier - I really missed the customer service aspects of my old jobs, back when I worked at Vorsite.

Awww, that's a cute way to assign projects, though! I find some of the 'dangerous' microbes a little creepy (the diseases, mostly, but also the flea... I hate fleas), but the bookworm is just too cute. As are things like pond scum.

Awww... but how can you be scared of a bookworm with big cute googly brown eyes? It's taking all my restraint not to immediately dub him 'Giles.' XD

Thank you, and yes yes yes. This will making the hanging out much easier than it was when I was working in frigging Ballard. I'll be working later, yeah, but I'll be starting later, too. So no having to be up at 7am!

Thanks! I'll be in the textbook department, which should be fun. Veeeeeery busy at the beginning of every quarter, but otherwise should be fairly laid-back, and I get to look at all the neat books professors are assigning!

(You're in town starting the 29th, right? I've been watching the harem-list emails, but up til now I wasn't sure what I'd be doing by that point in the month. Now that I know, I'm working evenings and weekends, now, but not too terribly late. Mondays and Tuesdays til 9pm, but I'm totally free on Thursdays and Fridays, and the other nights I'll be free around 6 or 7, depending.)

oops, it looks like i replied to someone else's comment on accident.

fun, textbooks! heh. lots of stressed out students, wondering why their calculus text costs $100+! those who want to know why you will only give them $15 for their psych 101 text when they paid $60 for it! all the young kids, just starting out! all the old timers, in the know, wandering in a week after the quarter begins, finally buying the handful of books they might actually end up having to read!

um, anyway. i am heading to seattle on the 26th, actually, and i think i have to leave the evening of the 29th. there is a harem party in the works for wednesday evening (27th), possibly in lynnwood at reid's house, but i don't really know if anything's solid. of course, i have plenty of wiggle room besides that and would definitely love to see you.

Thanks! It really is - I wasn't in any kind of position to really start panicking yet, but I don't like the feeling of not knowing when my next bit of income will come. So to speak. :P

That's kind of what I thought. If I have to be a working stiff, might as well do it surrounded by things I love. *g*

Yes! Lots of trying to explain to poor confused little freshmen that no, this is normal, and yes, they really should have gotten their textbooks before 2pm on the third day of class, because the bookstore is now a frigging zoo. Also, lots of resisting the temptation to tell people in lit classes "you know you could get that book for $2 at the used bookstore a block away, right?" *Headdesk*

Okay, I must've got things reversed somehow! I probably won't be able to do the Wednesday night party, 'cause I'll be at work til late-ish that evening, but I definitely want to see you!
