let's try this again...
Dec. 11th, 2006 12:25 pmI have a job. I'm starting at the University Bookstore next Monday - yay for a full week of break without worries about job-hunting or anything like that! I can just have fun. And my schedule after that isn't bad at all - yeah, I'll be working weekends. But I have Thursday and Friday off, my latest shift ends at 9pm, and my earliest time to be in is 10am. Not bad! Not uber well-paying, either, but not a bad starting wage in the slightest, and I feel comfy with the work that will be required of me - a definite bonus after the mess of the old job.
So here I go again, diving back into the working world. This time, in a field I actually give a crap about. With luck, that'll make a difference. I'm still kind of nervous, but I'm also excited.
Another thing I have? A plushy bookworm, from
miss_arel! He's so cute. I need to find a place for him on my bookshelf, so that he'll feel comfy and at home. ♥ (Whoever invented the giant microbes was a genius - see? These things are so adorable.

Date: 2006-12-11 10:36 pm (UTC)Also, I have three of the giant microbes--the bookworm, flesh eating bacteria, and plague. They amuse me so, in such a morbid way..

Date: 2006-12-11 10:53 pm (UTC)We had those microbe things in school 2 years ago. We were each given one and we had to do a project on the disease that we got given. I always thought they were kind of creepy.

Date: 2006-12-11 11:15 pm (UTC)Awww, that's a cute way to assign projects, though! I find some of the 'dangerous' microbes a little creepy (the diseases, mostly, but also the flea... I hate fleas), but the bookworm is just too cute. As are things like pond scum.

Date: 2006-12-11 11:41 pm (UTC)Awww... but how can you be scared of a bookworm with big cute googly brown eyes?
It's taking all my restraint not to immediately dub him 'Giles.' XDno subject
Date: 2006-12-11 11:43 pm (UTC)Thank you, and yes yes yes. This will making the hanging out much easier than it was when I was working in frigging Ballard. I'll be working later, yeah, but I'll be starting later, too. So no having to be up at 7am!

Date: 2006-12-11 11:47 pm (UTC)(You're in town starting the 29th, right? I've been watching the harem-list emails, but up til now I wasn't sure what I'd be doing by that point in the month. Now that I know, I'm working evenings and weekends, now, but not too terribly late. Mondays and Tuesdays til 9pm, but I'm totally free on Thursdays and Fridays, and the other nights I'll be free around 6 or 7, depending.)

Date: 2006-12-12 12:23 am (UTC)fun, textbooks! heh. lots of stressed out students, wondering why their calculus text costs $100+! those who want to know why you will only give them $15 for their psych 101 text when they paid $60 for it! all the young kids, just starting out! all the old timers, in the know, wandering in a week after the quarter begins, finally buying the handful of books they might actually end up having to read!
um, anyway. i am heading to seattle on the 26th, actually, and i think i have to leave the evening of the 29th. there is a harem party in the works for wednesday evening (27th), possibly in lynnwood at reid's house, but i don't really know if anything's solid. of course, i have plenty of wiggle room besides that and would definitely love to see you.
