I'm actually keeping up with our watching, now! ( The Ragged Edge - spoilers through S5 )

Let's see. I haven't actually posted episode commentaries since "Atonement" (episode 75), and we just watched... the eighth episode of Season 5, "Day of the Dead." Which... is not actually listed on the Lurker's Guide episode list (weird), but you can get to it by skipping forward from "Secrets of the Soul," which we skipped because neither of us could tolerate the thought of another episode all about He Whose Hair is Improbably Shiny (And Annoying).

I'm not sure what the hell to do about this gap I've got going, so I think I'm just going to Pretend It Didn't Happen, and mention stuff that came up before as I hit it. Sound good? Good.

It's very warm (for Seattle) today - 91 F at the moment and supposed to stay that way through Tuesday, and in a sure sign that Seattle is still Seattle, the National Weather Service has issues a heat advisory to remind us that Seattleites are not adapted to temperatures above about 80 F. I know this isn't a big deal for a lot of people, and honestly I feel pretty comfy about it as long as I'm in my airy apartment, but we walked to the International District for breakfast and a little shopping this morning, and I definitely did not enjoy the hill (and the slightly mistaken detour we took) on the way home. Phew. I think I'll stay close to home for the rest of the day, probably.

While I'm at it, I thought I'd put up a quick re-post of the Secret Project that I posted to babylon5_love yesterday. With thanks to icepixie for the idea - I've been working on this ever since we talked about the Art Nouveau influences of the visual style on B5.

Now that I'm done with that, I have one more day next Friday, for which I hope to finish something else I've been working on for quite a while (we'll see... it keeps fighting me). Writing this time, I'm afraid - as much as I want to do more complete art projects like this, they take a lot of time, and I feel like I've been letting myself get a little rusty with writing lately. I've been working, but things haven't necessarily gelled the way I'd like them to. I feel very much as though I'm in one of those awkward growth periods where nothing quite seems to come out right, and the only way I know to get through those is to keep pounding words and hoping that they start sounding better. So, we'll see.

In other news, I finally scheduled an appointment for a hair trim today. Totally new salon, just one that's a block away from my apartment, so I hope they don't... I don't know, chop off all my hair and give me a mohawk or something. It's just a trim, so it ought to be fine. Just a little unnerving.

I can't help thinking we're going through this too quickly, but I'm so excited to see it all again that I can't actually stand the thought of slowing down. :P Spoilers for the whole series under the cut.

*Flails* I need happier B5 icons, seriously, because I am so damned happy about starting S3. S2 is great, very fun and wonderful, but S3 is where my poor, confused little heart starts bouncing up and down going "yes! This is it! This is the show as I really remember it, this right here!" And the exuberance even seems to translate over to the production - it's like the whole production team is pointing at things and saying "look! We have a budget! The walls aren't made of cardboard anymore! We've made it!" ♥♥♥

Just watched the first two episodes of B5 (and "Soul Hunter") with The Boy, who is seeing it for the first time. The first episode I've always felt is fairly "meh" (my first ever episode was "Parliament of Dreams," which I adore, but The Boy is a completist and likes to watch things in Proper Order), but I was surprised to be reminded that Londo's dream of his own death is set up so early. In "Soul Hunter," I was surprised to be reminded that Delenn's real position in Minbari society was revealed so soon... and of course I got a bit wibbly at the Soul Hunter's mention of Dukhat.

Still don't like Sinclair that much. Still iffy about Garibaldi. Liking Franklin more this time, and, as before, adoring Londo, G'Kar, and Delenn. Ivanova's dialogue is very stiff and stilted in parts of the first season, it seems - I'd never noticed that before.

God I can't wait to see how some of the later stuff hits him. ♥
