Y'know, the SCA... is weird. That's really all I can say. I think it's one of those things where if you have good experiences and the right personality/inclination for it, you love it, and if you don't, it's just One of Those Weird Things. I loved it because it indulged a number of my favorite loves, namely 1) costumes, 2) history, 3) camping, 4) awesome food, 5) crafts/artwork and 6) a chance to play around at least mentally with being someone else. I was in theater for years, I was always one of those kids who was off playing pretend, and I really haven't quite got over it, so the SCA was a handy outlet. Plus, at least in the area I was in, the people tended to be absurdly welcoming and kind and smart and fun, all of which was a huge deal, particularly when I was a tiny new college student on my own for the first time after going K-12 in the same school district. I haven't been in years, but I do miss it sometimes. And not just because I no longer have an excuse to dress in pretty gowns every few months, go camping, and watch pretty men in armor hit each other with swords (which, let me tell you, really never gets old).
Anyway. Yes to them taking one of the Minbari cruisers instead of the White Star, and a big fricking YES to the whole stupid thing with Delenn. JMS just forgets about her, I swear. He goes along, tra-la-la, and sometimes he's really good at showing us that, yes, she's totally awesome and bad-ass and scary and all those things... and then he utterly forgets. Let alone Sheridan forgetting, not to mention everyone else on the station - of course they forget! JMS can't remember!!! AUGH. It makes me want to shake him.
