Why does the King County Library system not believe in the existence of the French language? I'm aware of the fact that there aren't a lot of native French speakers around here, but not having barely any French books in the entire library system (let alone anything anybody would actually want to read) makes it really difficult for those of us who are trying to keep up our language skills.

God bless Powells, the one place in this area, it seems, where one can find current and interesting books in French. With luck, I will soon have a French copy of one of the Harry Potter books.

And I really need to go to bed now.

I have the first and third Harry Potter books in French; let me know if you want to borrow either one.

I know of a few good French Harry Potter fanfics. And - er - if it helps there are a lot of French books in New York. Kind of a long way to go for a few books, but...

I feel your pain, though. I live where there are almost no native French speakers. You can find books in Spanish everywhere, and Chinese, and Japanese, and Korean, and Arabic, etc. But no French. Mostly Spanish and English, though.

Oooo, thanks! Hopefully I'll be picking up one of them at Powells this weekend... and with how little I've practiced my French before the last week lately, that should keep me for a while. ~.^

Hmm, that might be something to look up. Hopefully I'll be able to get one of the books tomorrow, and then gather up other stuff in the future. Once I'm back to going to my university all the time, it'll be a lot easier to pick up books from their libraries... and hopefully find stuff simple enough for me to understand.

Yup yup... it truly is sad. At least for those of us not taking any of those languages.
