I'm aware of the fact that there aren't a lot of native French speakers around here, but not having barely any French books in the entire library system (let alone anything anybody would actually want to read) makes it really difficult for those of us who are trying to keep up our language skills.
God bless Powells, the one place in this area, it seems, where one can find current and interesting books in French. With luck, I will soon have a French copy of one of the Harry Potter books.
And I really need to go to bed now.

Date: 2004-06-24 04:57 pm (UTC)I feel your pain, though. I live where there are almost no native French speakers. You can find books in Spanish everywhere, and Chinese, and Japanese, and Korean, and Arabic, etc. But no French. Mostly Spanish and English, though.
