Today, I had work. Yay work. Work gives me money, and for that I love it. I am not, however, hugely enamoured of the assignment to count ALL THE CHAIRS IN ALL THE BUILDINGS ON THE UW CAMPUS. With only ONE other person currently assigned the project.
Let me assist those of you not familiar with the UW campus. This map here shows all the buildings on the UW campus. This right here is a list of all the buildings with classrooms in them, with handy little links to the map. Now, I'm not going to lie - we're not going through ALL of those. But between today and the 29th of September, they somehow expect that all the rooms in most of these buildings will have been looked through, their chairs counted and, if needed, moved to where they're supposed to be. Because the gods forbid some classroom that's supposed to have 40 chairs accidentally have 43, and some other room that's supposed to have 35 only have 32.
We got through two buildings today before I moved on to my training for the real work that I'll be doing in fall quarter. Which, like my morning job last year, will also include - you guessed it! - COUNTING CHAIRS.
If I wake up screaming tonight or tomorrow night about the chairs that are trying to eat me... well, it really won't be a surprise.
Honestly, my day was fine. I just felt the need to get all that out.
