weeeeeird little bunny

So... I keep being attacked by this weird little plot-bunny. Or, rather, a writing-bunny; it can't truly be called 'plot'.

I want to write what would effectively be an anthropological 'study' of the Rohirrim. I've been composing it, in my head, for months, now. I actually started writing the damned thing today in colonial American lit (yes, that really is what I do with my time in that class).

Fellow LotR fans... am I insane? If I'm the only person in the world who'd be interested in this, I'll keep my insane babblings to myself. But I can't help but think that, considering the whole damned book was originally created just so Tolkien would have a place to put his languages that he'd created, there's a twisted sort of logic in my adding anthropology (the one social discipline he doesn't include in any detail in his appendices) to his world.

Basically this would be cultural details and description, pure supposition and invention on my part, taking its cue from both book and movie canon, and adding in 'historical' examples from the book.

I've lost my mind, haven't I? *Revels in insanity*

Complete geekery is very hot. I'd read it and I have no interest in the trilogy in general. But the Rohirrim are nifty any way you slice it.

OMG! I would so read that! I love Anthropology, those were some of my favorite classes in college. And I love LotR. If you write this and don't share it, I'll never forgive you. Ever.

Okay, I'd forgive you. But I'd be very, very disappointed.

Okay, I will definitely try to write this, then. I can't make any promises about when it'll get done (if ever..) but I'll post it in segments, I think, so that at least people can see what I manage to write of it. ;)
