I have a new philosophy to embrace, in regards to the election.

Read this article, my liberal friends. Read it, and feel a new swelling of pride and determination and (gods help us) purpose, rising in your heart.

Maybe I'm just especially wibbly today (it's possible), but that... *Sighs* That makes me want to gird on a sword and take up the battle. Well... at least in a metaphorical sense.

Oh - I got so enthused that I forgot to mention that I got the link to that article from [livejournal.com profile] godlessharlot. Yay!

Yes! We must have a mission and eventually we will win!

That is an excellent philosophy. I mean, election night, I'm all set to pack up and move to Canada or someplace, but then I realized: if I leave the country, I can't vote against Rick Santorum when he runs for reelection. And that's the new project, because we need that man gone like nothing else.

Exactly! I've been whining to myself about how I feel helpless because I can't move til next year and I don't even want to move then because all my friends and family are here, and I love Seattle. I want to travel, and maybe live abroad for a while, but I don't really want to permanently break ties with home. Besides, it's hard to get citizenship somewhere else, and it's hard to get a job unless you have citizenship... so it'd just be tough.

But this! This gives me a whole new feeling. I'm not staying because I'm too scared or uncertain to leave, I'm staying because I want to see this country turned around, and I want to make that happen!

... Completely disregarding the fact that I'm just a damned English major and have no skill or knowledge of politics, so anything I do is limited to voting and... bitching. Oh, and writing. *Sighs* Not so glorious when you put it that way... but it's a start.

That was the most articulately written article I've read in ages. It's spiritually refreshing to read in the least. Thanks for sharing!

It's so hard to sit between two republicans in med school. They're educated, loving, compassionate women who've given their lives to medicine. How can they swallow Bush's lies and injustice? How can they smile and say he's a good, moral, upstanding man and they voted for him because they feel he's a good person?
