I have about 20 minutes of transcribed dialogue to use as data for my anthropological linguistics paper. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea what to say about these bits and pieces. I think I can talk about specialized vocabulary (of the - what? GEEK community???), and then maybe... ummm..... I have no fecking idea.

Well, that's a good sign for a 5ish page paper, isn't it?

Possibly. Although, honestly, we didn't talk about syntax. Which is sad, since a more detailed linguistic class was actually what I was after... I got more out of the anthropology parts of the class than the linguistics.

I did figure out that she's not after anything quite so specific as I'd thought, though. So that helps. It shouldn't be too bad.

I will need to come and pick it up soon, only because I forgot the library book last time I was up there with all the ethernet cord stuff going on, and the book is overdue.
So, uhmm...I can't do it tomorrow, busy. maybe thursday, but you have to work, what about Friday?
Let me know if that would potentially work for you, I know you're very busy right now, and I'll try not to take up lots of time hanging around. Ok?

The recorder worked fine; transcribing is time-consuming, though, and I don't need tons of stuff. I got plenty to work with.

If you wanted to come up thursday, I can just leave the recorder with Fey. Friday I've got a potluck for the SCA, but it's not until 7:30, so that could work.

I'm glad you have directions to CT's, I know I've been there once befor but it has been a while and I honestly don't remember.
