a last huzzah of sorts
Dec. 19th, 2004 07:22 pmThis has been a really fun weekend.
Friday was my first day after turning in my final paper (and after my last night of closing Mary Gates for the quarter), so there was much resting and relaxation. We went to Uwajimiya's, bought gummies and rice crackers and things, and saw all sorts of shiny things at Kino's, including introducing
lennaofmidearth to the giant Gackt poster, and to Hyde's singing. Wheeee. Yay for messing up the line between RPG PBs and reality. Then we watched the recent production of "Peter Pan." It was actually quite good, and I'm not just saying that because I got to squee over Jason Isaacs. Although him as Mr Darling was amazingly cute and pathetic, and Hook was wonderfully vicious.
Saturday was goodbye to
nekokoban, and then a trip to the zoo once we'd all gotten it together and gotten ready. It was cold, but we saw BABY SUMATRAN TIGERS. Two of them. With the biggest feet you've ever seen, and most GIGANTIC cranky momma kitty EVER. We were so busy looking at the cubs, we didn't even notice when she stalked into the room until there was a WALL of orange and black striped big-cat right in our field of vision. And after a while one of the cubs got a bit too feisty with mommy, and she let out a floor-rumbling growl and hauled off and bopped him with one HUGE paw. And this was all no farther away from us than a couple feet and a pane of thick glass. Totally fecking amazing.
Other highlights of the zoo trip: brown bears (BIG, sleepy, and oh-so-close to the glass!), gray wolves, a teeensy baby arctic fox kit who kept looking at us like we were nuts for squealing over him, big male puma pacing very close to the edge of his enclosure, and the HUGE male tiger pacing around growl-roaring about wanting his lunch. That last one really put Theoden's morning yeowling into perspective. ;) There was more, I'm sure, but I'm not thinking of it right now... And then dinner at Costas, with much silliness and hilarity because by then we were all getting a bit goofy and tired. Wheeeee.
Today was a lazy day - nothing more exciting than hanging around the house and a trip to Dick's for burgers and shakes. Tomorrow's going to be strange... Getting up early to see
theladyfeylene and
lennaofmidearth off on their shuttle to the airport, and then the house will feel so quiet with just
zinjadu, the animals and I in it. *Sniffle*

Date: 2004-12-20 03:11 pm (UTC)Gah, that would be weird. Although just Hyde's voice (especially singing an amazingly bippy but DEEEEEP-voiced song) is weird enough.
