nostalgia, Cassie Claire, etc
Jun. 24th, 2003 04:10 pmThis morning, I got very distracted and had to run out of the house at the last minute because of this: http://www.livejournal.com/users/epicyclical/146090.html#cutid1 (Mild OotP spoilers).
Like a fool, I read it, and got totally enthralled and distracted. If anybody else wrote something like that, I'd be scoffing and thinking they were insane. With Cassandra Claire.... well, she's different. She's one of those writers who has the amazing talent to make almost anything seem plausible, even desirable. She's got talent, seriously. And if she's going to start writing about that... well, I'd better get used to the idea, 'cause I'm bound to end up liking it. I laughed my ass off reading it, anyway.
Also, I downloaded my last CD to the computer today... The Broadway production of "Dames at Sea," which was my last show on stage. I had to listen to parts of each song to title them in the folder... and I totally got nostalgic. I mean, sure, I hated this damned musical while we were rehearsing. I didn't get along with the director, I severely disliked (read: hated, but is now rather embarassed and so will attempt to sugar-coat it) the girl who played one of the leads, I hated that I was in the chorus after getting good (or at least *decent*) parts in every other show we'd done, and I hated some of the songs. ...But, like everything in theater, it was kinda fun, when we were actually performing. And some of the songs were quite cool, really. Some were truly stupid and asinine, but *some* really were fun. So... yeah. Even though this recording doesn't have as good of voices for some of the characters (no, seriously... I wish I could give people a sample of the girl who played one of these characters... last I heard she was going to Opera school, and she could've blown the chick on this CD out of the water while just singing in the *shower*) it's still a cool show, in a bizarre sort of way. And it's memories. Oh, the memories....
*Wanders off into nostalgic musings about highschool theater*
