Went for a (very short) run today, did a ton of archaeology reading, unplugged the sink with salt and hot water (go me!) after plugging it with lard (oops), fixed the cat's favorite toy so he will not progress straight through "pear-shaped" and turn into a huge fuzzy orange peach with white feet, and ate a big bowl of orange sorbet. In the basement. Where it is already cold. *Sighs*

So now I'm cold, but full of orange goodness, the sink is unplugged (although the guilty pan is still soaking in loads of hot water and detergent), the cat is happy, and I'm going to finish the chapter I'm reading in the archaeology book and then maybe work on my fic for a little while. Because I had what might have been a minor break-through on the way home from the drugstore this afternoon. I have new toothpaste, too! That makes me stupidly happy.

Also learned that if you run "Princes of the Universe" through Babelfish enough times, you can get "I have me soul of rice" out of "I have inside me blood of kings." Am still trying to work out what quirk of translation caused this. On a related note, I discovered, while trying to check some names for the fic, that TV Tome thinks the Highlander theme is "Princess of the Universe." Perhaps Duncan has something he needs to tell the guys.

This entry was written entirely without the assistance of alcohol or other mind-altering substances... which is probably the most frightening thing about it.

Yeah, they're not great, but I tried. Caps are from http://photobucket.com/albums/v662/partnersincrime/Highlander/, courtesy of the lovely folks at the [livejournal.com profile] hl_icontest, which I would enter if I had a bit more skillz. ;)

I had forgotten about babelfishing stuff....thanks for reminding me! After several rounds of linguistic butchery, I turned "Who wants to live forever" into "that which wants which always saw". I think that is going to be the name of my journal from now on.

....awesome!

Wow. We ran a verse of that earlier, but I can't remember what we came up with. It was pretty insane. And I learned that you can't put it through Greek unless you want to end up with Greek characters remaining after you go to the next language.

Oh, and somehow we ended up with the worst French composite word ever - "Auxlesquelles." I was amused.

Great picture on the "princess of the universe" icon, he really does look like a princess in that icon. Methos is, as always, beautiful!
I didn't realize you liked to run, I would think with all the walking you do, you get so much excersize already.
If you have more trouble getting that pan clean after it's soaked, the grittiness of baking soda powder helps get the stubborn greasy and burned on spots off!

" fixed the cat's favorite toy so he will not progress straight through "pear-shaped" and turn into a huge fuzzy orange peach with white feet" *g* he's so cute! The pictures I took of you and Theo turned out really cute! I'll make copies for you.

What's Babelfish?

I like to run, but I'm a very very short-distance runner - I made it about halfway around the block before my throat hurt and I was breathing too hard to run any more, and then walked a ways after. It's not so much about exercise, just about getting a bit of a rush. If I wanted exercise, I'd force myself to just jog. ;)

Yay, thank you!

Babelfish is an online translation tool, the standard friend of lazy highschool students who can't be arsed to do their own French, Spanish, or whatever homework. Unfortunately, it mucks up context, word order, and idioms horribly, so it's great fun for playing the "translate this and then translate it back to see how fucked up it got" game.
