monocular vision
Jun. 26th, 2006 10:15 amMy dad called this morning, to let me know about this story on NPR. It's fascinating, in that it's the first time I've ever seen a popular intellectual approach to something that's been on my mind a fair amount the last few years.
( Like the woman in the story, I don't have binocular vision. )
It also occurs to me that I'm sorry my eye muscle surgery didn't take better than it did. For the longest time, my eyes didn't bother me - I wore glasse until I was sixteen, which made the crossing a lot less noticeable. Now that I wear contacts and I'm pretty happy with the rest of my appearance... It's not a big deal, of course, but every now and then it kind of makes me wince, when I see a picture where it's really obvious, or when I look in the mirror when my eyes are especially tired.
Ironically, the other notable fact of this morning is that my eyes are bothering me. Just some strain, exacerbated by the fact that I forgot my reading glasses at home. Kind of apropos, though.
