fannish 5 - identification

fannish5, gacked from
nolivingman: Name five characters that you identify with the most.
Only five? *Pout* Oh, fine...
1. Dana Scully. Cynical, snarky, occasionally ill-tempered, a rational mind who still has the ability to believe deeply in things beyond the knowledge of science. Just... you know... nothing Mulder believes in.
2. Morwen from the Enchanted Forest chronicles. A practical, plain-thinking, straight-minded witch who loves cats and has a grudging fondness for men who are entirely too academic for their own well-being. Infinitely more tidy than I could ever be, though.
3. Jenny Calendar. I empathize intensely with the one who tries really hard to figure things out, gets flustered, and never quite has all the necessary information. Also, I need someone as cluttered and messed up as me to fill out these intensely sane girls early on in the list.
4. Susan Ivanova. Love's bitch to the Nth degree, in addition to being everything I said about Scully. I more than recognize her tendency to back off the instant somebody starts getting close, and the way she grumbles and gripes. Also, the fact that there isn't enough coffee or liquor in the world, sometimes. And being canonically bi endeared her to me immensely.
5. Elphaba, AKA the Wicked Witch of the West. Not just because I made this icon last night. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, your better nature just isn't good enough to keep you safe.
Honorable Mentions: Zoe Alleyne-Washburne, River Tam (yes, really), Eowyn, and just, occasionally, Buffy Summers. It's the size thing. I can't help identifying with someone my own exact size, particularly once you throw in snark, relationship issues, abandonment issues and... well, pretty much all the non-slayer-related issues, really. I can identify with Issues. ;)
