cheese + sleep = ???

I can't remember who once told me that eating cheese before bed gives you weird, vivid dreams, but I think I proved it true last night. I was reeeeeally hungry just as I was getting into bed (my fault for having a small dinner, admittedly), and... so I ate a small slice of the really tasty comte we have in the fridge. Yeah. I don't remember much of the dream, but I remember that Abe Sapien and Sarah Jane Smith were hanging out together, and that later on my friends and I were trying to go to a movie, and sigelphoenix brought Theoden (er... my cat, not the King of Rohan) along. And I was worried about losing him in the theater. Now that I think of it, it could hardly have been less weird if it really had been King Theoden... either way it was all pretty strange.

Still desperately behind on all my writing projects, still stuck halfway through another drawing project, and still really wishing I'd never discovered Photoshop online tutorials, because they suck my life away. I'm working on a wallpaper with clockwork gears right now, and it's tedious beyond belief, but I can't seem to make myself stop (in part because the dratted thing actually looks really cool).

Also, woe and alas, I managed to forget both the new audio books that I borrowed from maymargaret last night, and am pretty much out of music that I haven't listened to ten billion times here at work. I'm booooooored. Coding is not fun with nothing to listen to while I do it! And I've already listened to all my podcasts for the week, and NPR is being boring, and am sick of the selection of music on my mp3 player. I'll stop my whining, now. But boo.

Tomorrow I will refill my travelling CD case with stuff I haven't listened to in a while, and I will not forget those blasted audio books! Love's Labours Lost and Cymbeline - a whole six hours of entertainment for tomorrow!

...And I just had to take a call because I forgot to log myself out of the phone when I went on lunch. Hellfire. The first fricking call I've gotten all day, and it has to come when I'm on lunch...

on why having a cat is sometimes really *not* fun

Today, I accidentally left my brand-new headphones on my desk when I left for work.

Only my roommate and former housemates will truly understand the horror of this statement.

I thought of it as I got to the end of the block, but I was already running late thanks, in part, to a zoomy fit wherein the cat ran out the door and around the hall for several minutes before I could catch him and put him back in the apartment, so I couldn't go back and get them (or put them away in a drawer). "Maybe he'll leave them alone," I thought. Too much optimism, obviously. The poor headphones were strewn out on the floor when I got home, chewed apart in two places. I hadn't even finished yelling at him for that (yes, I know - yelling will do no good at this point, but I couldn't stop myself) when the little bastard set tooth on my laptop cable, which is the absolute biggest of all possible no-no's. I threw him out of my bedroom, and we're now back to him being banned from it if I'm not right there watching him.

I liked those headphones - and this is something like the fourth pair I've lost to his chewing habit in the last few years. I try to buy him chew-toys, and he won't chew on them. I try to put bitter-apple extract on stuff, but I can't put it on everything, and I can't put it on stuff I handle all the time, because inevitably I stick my finger in my mouth or something and damn is that stuff nasty.

I love the fuzzy little jerk, but this chewing thing is just so annoying.


ETA: And just after I posted this, EVE (the laptop) had her first blue-screen-of-death moment. Windows helpfully popped up with a little "diagnose the cause of this failure" when she restarted. Diagnosis of cause? Windows Vista, of course. At least they're honest and don't try to sugar-coat it. :P And I now am downloading the service pack that will supposedly prevent further issues. Yay.
