May. 19th, 2005 05:28 pmI think I've had too much caffeine today, or something. I was totally out of it this morning, so I got a coffee while Toby and I went out walking. Nice big coffee, but plain, so I figured it wouldn't be a problem. And it didn't seem to be - anthropology was fine, I was in a good mood when I got to work, all was good. Chatted with co-workers and my boss and all. Then I had some tea, because that's always what I do when I get to the office. Then... I start feeling buzzed. Thrilling. I need my head to clear so I can work on my paper, darn it.
The weather's been totally crazy today, going from bright, clear and sunny to pouring down rain in minutes flat. We got absolutely soaked on our walk this morning (went to Cowen park, which totally left me feeling like I wasn't in the city at all anymore - a wonderful feeling, at this point), and then it's bright and sunny while I'm in class, then gray and rainy for the first hour I was at work, then sunny for juuuust long enough for me to run out and close things before it got cloudy again. Now it's sunny, but who knows how long that will last?
I adore my anthropology class. We had a fabulous talk about Modern-cluster family structure today, despite a video completely not working because apparently the VCR is broken. I really love hashing stuff out with these people - it's just fun to chat with them. I'm definitely going to have to get Jamaica and Sarah's emails before the quarter ends - they're both just such fun. English classes are kind of like that, but... there's something different, I don't know. Maybe just because there's more to talk about than there usually is in an English seminar, it feels like. Or maybe just because the topic is so engrained in all our lives that we all have something to say about it, and we're all coming from different backgrounds, whereas normally you can count on English students to all have at least approximately the same background in literature in at least some fashion. Or maybe I'm just crazy right now, I don't know.
I'm at once so very glad it's Thursday, and absolutely petrified that Monday is coming. Unless I really get my ass in gear, this could be a truly hellish weekend. Either way, at least Friday night should be nice.

Date: 2005-05-20 01:25 am (UTC)And the weather has been insane today, we had hailstones and lightning down here, then sun for 20 minutes, then hail again. I'm staying indoors.

Date: 2005-05-20 02:28 am (UTC)I just wanted to let you know that I found the shoes, so I will bring them, and the Vikings book up tonight. Unless you can think of anything else?
When you're done with classes and actually have a little free time, and feel like reading something totally random and fun and silly, I have that Laurie Notaro book at I had to buy from the library because some "unnamed" kitten (Snape) ate it. It's still totally read-able, and I think you would enjoy it. It's a REALLY quick read!
See you tonight!

o_O Oh. THAT hail. That stuff that just started slapping into the office window. Wow. I really hope that calms down before I have to go close things.... Eh. That's what I have my umbrella for, I guess.
I'd love to read the book, I vaguely remember some of the passages you read to me while you were reading it, and they sounded hilarious. And after this quarter, I have a feeling I'm going to need some serious doses of fun reading. I'm also planning to re-watch the extended editions of FotR, TTT, and RotK, because reading all this damned lit crit about the books has just ended up with me craving the movies like there's no tomorrow.

Date: 2005-05-20 02:20 pm (UTC)haha! Sounds like my classes. I'll ask what I THINK is a great question to get a discussion going, and get blank stares all around. *sigh*

Date: 2005-05-20 04:08 am (UTC)Sounds good. I'll probably just set up shop with everybody who's interested, pop a bunch of popcorn, and pass out in front of the TV. ;)
