May all the gods bless Livejournal. Not only do I have GIMP, now, but on a whim I searched for communities that might help me figure it out... and lo! There is not only an icon tutorial community, but also a community specifically for GIMP users! *Squees*

Am so happy. Am so relieved. Am having such a hard time convincing myself I should work instead of going straight over and trying out some of the nifty new things I'm learning about the GIMP.

I'm hoping to have all sorts of nifty, pretty new icons soon. *g*

Edit: I should have known I was speaking too soon. Turns out I'm too dumb at the moment to figure out how the hell to do what the tutorials are telling me to. It seems so simple, damn it! I just can't figure out how to make it work!!! This whole adding layers thing makes total sense... but the layers don't want to cooperate.

Layers are a very good thing and come in really handy. I haven't done a lot with them in GIMP but I did use them for a photoshop project years ago. For myself I'm trying to figure out how to turn a medium sized paragraph into three pages by magic. I'm thinking of sacrificing something to the take home essay gods. The dog looks worried....

Due in the morning. I've gotten another chunk of it done and just have one more question to answer. I was hoping to be more productive here, but it's been a busy night, and I got here late anyway because it took two hours to drive in to the office. Will probably just be a late night and early morning to wrap it up. I hope you are having more fun with your papers :)

*Sighs* No, really, I just can't seem to work right now. I open the damned file, stare at it... and then distract myself. Which is only going to make the situation later in the week harder.

The dog is safe for now I think, I was able to get that short paragraph filled out. Besides, it's fun to have an alarm clock with a wet nose ;)
