Damn, I'm jealous! My traveling never seems less impressive than when I do one of these maps. It's like "wow, I've done... umm... these teeny little chunks of the country. And that's it."
the western states are just so much bigger - in three hours you can drive from Albany, NY to Maine - that's 4 states. At best, from Seattle, you'll get to Portland. :\
I'm a gypsy. As a kid both of my parents had their own businesses so we could all have two months of summer together to drive up to Seattle from Arkansas. That covered a lot of the western states.
The eastern states came from moving to NY and being a full-time paid grad student, letting me drive damn well anywhere I felt, covering New England.
In high school my marching band played the Peach Bowl in Atlanta as well; as Bush Sr.'s inaugural parade.
I still travel a lot. I can't help it. I just sold my actual car, leaving me with a 16' RV (daily driver) and a 24' RV.
If the map were just for the past year it would cover WA, ID, MT, OR, UT, and CO. I'll travel to OR ID and MT before August, and probably CA, NV, and WY again before September. I really am a vagabond.
