My case for jury duty is finally finished. It'll probably go to appeals, but I'm done with it forever, now. Thank the gods.

On the bad side of things, I've been let go fro m the science writing job I had. They found somebody with better skills at the layout program, and they were leery of my scheduling conflicts (which are over now, of course) and the deadline thing. Bastards. It probably would've been fine if it weren't for the stupid jury duty.

So, back to scanning Craigslist and all, tomorrow.

Yeah, well, nothing to be done about it. At least I hadn't invested much time in them - yours are being real bastards about the whole thing!

Well that sucks! You're supposed to be protected from that sort of thing when you do jury duty. I hope something comes up soon. Something better.

On the other side, I think Jury Duty would be kind of neat, you know. I was called once, but I had just finished nursing school and was supposed to start orientation on the floor the same day, so they let me out of it.

*Technically* they let me go because my skills with the layout software they use weren't up to their expectations. And that probably was part of it, but I had warned them that I'd never used the program before, only one similar to it. And I'd warned them about jury duty, but if they're going to be bastards about something I can't control, I'm glad I found out before I'd invested a lot of time in them, I guess.

It really was interesting, and I'm glad I did it. It's just really inconvenient for someone working part-time, hourly jobs. Definitely a good experience to have had, I think, though.

Not at all related to your post, but I just wanted to let you know that I mapquested (?) Orting, and it's about 45 minutes from my house, depending on where in Orting, but I sort of doubt that Orting is too big, ya think?
