Yesterday, I shrieked in nekokoban's ear.

It was a total accident, I swear, and I felt soooo guilty after it happened, but... I cannot be blamed for the upswelling of terror that caused this outburst. Allow me to explain.

We have been watching Firefly, of course. Just yesterday, we saw the new trailer for Serenity (link here for those who have not yet seen it, because it is wonderful and shiny despite lacking poor Shepherd Book), and it was good and happy and I love all the characters, as I have mentioned many times. And one of the characters I never expected to love nearly half as much as I do is the man they call Jayne. Such a darling junkyard dog of a man, all growly and nasty unless you happen to find one of his scritchy spots, at which point he becomes a cuddly puppy. Well... sort of.

Anyway - Jayne is good.

You know who's not? The scary-ass Alien Bounty Hunter from the X-Files!

Why do I bring this up? Why? Because they're the SAME ACTOR! How I watched this show for over a month without realizing, I will never know, except - oh wait, I know, because the bounty hunter is SCARY and Jayne is not!!! And because the silly page on IMDB lists him as playing "Knowle Rohrer" in the X-Files, and I had no idea the stupid Bounty Hunter had ever had a name. So when I saw a picture of the Bounty Hunter directly following a picture of Jayne... and I finally put the pieces together... it scared the fecking hell out of me.

Nice happy doofy angry-puppy-dog guys aren't supposed to suddenly start bearing resemblance to scary evil things with ice picks that go "pftht." That's just WRONG.


We ate raspberries after, and that made everything better. And now I'm just fascinated by the range of Adam Baldwin's acting. But still!!! Bounty Hunter!!!!! *Hides*

Edited: Eheh. Don't I feel silly, now? Knowle Whatshisname was someone else. Not the Bounty Hunter. *Relieved* I wondered why none of the classic Bounty-Hunter pics were turning up when I went looking for photos...

Oh thank you so much! I had managed to hide from the trailer, knowing that I wouldn't be able to see the movie for a good couple months, and now I had to go and watch it! I want it *now* :-/

And yes, Jayne is one of my favorites. Well, all the characters are my favorites. Why isn't Book in the movie?

He's in the movie, or so I'm told, he just isn't in the trailer. Poor Book - no love for the preacher-man!

I saw some publicity shots today (the only kind of spoiler I'm allowing myself, aside from the trailer), and judging by that I'd say he's definitely in it. I was much relieved, too - I love Book. Hell, I love all the characters.

I thought the Bounty Hunter was another actor - the same one who was Luke in S1 Buffy. I think (wow, it's been a long time) that Knowle Rohrer was someone else, though who he was I can't remember now.

Oh thank god, you're right. That's the bounty hunter. I feel so much better. I don't remember who the heck Knowle Rohrer was, either... I'll have to ask all my old X-Files fan friends, to see if anybody knows.

Also, I have to point out - Simon is wearing blue in the Serenity trailer, in a few shots. o.O Something truly bizarre is going on with that symbolism.

I know. Well, you've been reading Firefly daily, so you know that he's waring a blue shirt at the end of Safe, and she thinks its the "he's no longer a space-virgin" or something symbolism. XD Ha! Space-virgin.

But... Blue. And River's wearing blue, too! Gah. I am convinced this is some kind of crazy symbolism to do with the blue-hands and the Blue Sun Corporation, but am probably following a big crazy blue herring as set out by the producers.

Yup, it is. Honestly, Whedon was one thing that kept me from watching Firefly initially, because I knew how rabid his fans were about anything he'd done. So I just assumed the fuss over Firefly was just that. Silly me. *Blush*

...And damn do I need a Firefly icon. (Un)Fortunately, Terra has given me a bunny for exactly the one I might need...

Surprisingly, a good deal of BtVS and AtS fans weren't happy with Firefly. Generally, when there's something that a lot of peole are going "OMG" over, I tend to tune in for one episode if I can. Like Lost. Dude, such a good show.

I really should do that more often, when people fuss. For the most part, I ignore TV completely, but Firefly is one of those shows that would've been well worth it.

An Inara icon, if it works. Terra pointed out that a song we both know *really* fits Inara's situation with Mal... in weird and kind of hilarious ways.
