For my next prompt (not going in any order except "hmm, I think I can handle that one next"), [livejournal.com profile] narsilion requested "River and Simon talking about Kaylee, or one about River and Kaylee talking about Simon." But then she requested Methos and bubble tea, which was just too fabulous for me to resist... so I'll be getting to her first request a bit later. XD

Fandom: Highlander (fits in the 'Interference' world, if anybody cares)
Characters: Methos and Amy
Warnings: None, unless you consider Methos being whiney to be something that should be warned against. ;) And of course, I don't own these characters or make any money off the writing.

"And I'm supposed to drink this."

Amy rolled her eyes at Methos' dubious expression. "It's all the rage in California, and turning up in all the trendy spots around Washington, too."

"I remember trendy food. My stomach never forgave me for the peacock brains in the third century."

"Well, this isn't peacock brains. It's just juice and tea."

"And the lumps?" Methos poked at a black sphere with his oversized straw.

"Tapioca."

"They look a bit like eyeballs. I've had fish eyeballs in soup, you know."

"Then this shouldn't be a trial at all, should it."

Methos rolled his eyes. "Oh, fine." A tentative sip. "The red bean is an interesting flavor."

"You didn't get any of the tapioca."

"I get no sympathy from you. I'm old, let me be set in my ways."

"Drink it, or I'll have Joe convince MacLeod to have his summer barbecue out at Friday Harbor this year."

"There's no way to get there except by water!"

"I know." Amy smirked and sipped at her own almond-strawberry milk tea. The little black spheres zipped up the straw, visible the whole way up to her lips.

"Imp," he accused.

"Devil," she replied. "Just drink it."

Methos sighed. Five thousand years, and sometimes it was still easier to just let people think they had the upper hand... "I'm not hydrophobic, you know."

"I know you're not. You just hate it. Drink."

He took a cautious sip, and this time made sure to take up one of the little tapioca balls with the drink, holding it on his tongue while he swallowed the sip. He could probably get away with swallowing it whole, but that would most likely be even more disgusting. And it was... soft, on the outside. Slimy. Delightful. He chewed, and found the taste oddly starchy, but not unpleasant. Mild, and a bit sweet, a counterpoint to the creamy red bean flavor.

"Well?"

"I suppose youth must be right sometimes." He sprawled back against the couch, smiling.

Amy shook her head. "You do that on purpose, don't you? Just to argue."

"What would make you think that?"

OHMIGOSH! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!! You've totally made my day!
I had to woek 11 hours today and then needed to stop at the store on the way home, so I was dragging. (I know you know how THAT feels, you've done quite a bit of it lately) I turned on the computer and sat down to have a bowl of veggie soup, and there it was...WHEE!!! And it was perfect. Thank you again for making me so happy!

No problem at all, I'm glad you liked it! That totally sucks about working 11 hours, but at least it'll look good on the paycheck.
