I smell pretty today. :D

Over the weekend, I recieved the six-vial set of scents from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab that [livejournal.com profile] zinjadu got me for my birthday! I'm now the proud owner of Highwayman, La Belle au Bois Dormant, Hesperides, Incantation, Bliss, and Lightning.

Today, I'm wearing Hesperides... so here's a
The lab's description: The Hesperides are the Nymphs of the Evening who dwell in a verdant garden located in the Arcadian Mountains, guarded by the terrible three-headed dragon, Ladon. Within their garden lives the tree that bears Hera’s sacred Golden Apples. Their perfume is that of sturdy oak bark, dew-kissed leaves, twilight mist and crisp apple.

My feelings: When I first open the bottle, the oak bark is all that I can smell (I was scared I'd hate it when it first hit my senses), but after a second or two the apple starts moving in. On my skin it's apple and oak bark (I totally don't get the leaves), and I looooooooooove it. Love love love love love. It's a warm scent, like standing in an apple grove with the sun bringing out the scents of apples and wood. Absolutely perfect for a crisp early autumn day. After time (let's see... I put it on about 9:30, for reference), it mellows out so both the apple and the oak are more subtle, kind of makes me wish I could bring the vial along and touch it up a few times over the course of a day. I'd definitely only put this one on just as I'm heading out the door. At the moment, after only brief smells of the others, I think this one is likely to be my favorite out of the whole batch. Incantation and Bliss might give it a run for its money, though, and Lightning is certainly special.....

Oooh. That sounds gorgeous. The more I hear, the more I want to order some of my own.

They're horribly enticing... I've spent far too much time browsing their website reading the descriptions of different smells. These six should last me a while, though, and I've got another six coming sometime after my actual birthday... so I've put myself on a BPAL restriction, no ordering anything until I've used a fair portion of what I already have. ;)

See, I do that with Lush products, but then buy them for other people for gifts because I'm seriously incapable of actually staying away from the shop.

Now, to find out if BPAL ships to Canada . . .

I don't know anything about Lush... that's probably good, isn't it?

Can't imagine they wouldn't....

Lush is the most addictive form of small luxuries ever, because they're wonderful. They do bath-type oils, and scents, and bubble baths and things which are marvellous for treating yourself. But then they also do a conditioner & various shampoos/shower gels etc that I can't live without. And glitter. You have to love the glitter.

Ooo, that does sound dangerous. I'm such a sucker for bath and body products, especially of the smelly varieties.

The website. I don't think they have a store in Seattle, although there's one in Portland, and one in Victoria . . .

Very, very dangerous stuff ;)

Of course they have a website. *Whimpers* Happily, I am on restriction from spending any more money on smelly things - I have too much, right now, and I really need to work through what I have (and what's already on its way) before I get one more little thing. ;)

I'm pretty sure BPAL does ship internationally. They say they ship to Western Europe, so I think Canada might be in the running.

(Yes, I looked it up before I went abroad. BPAL is that addictive. ^^)

Whee, looking forward to spending some time with you.
How did Sunday at work go, was it any better to only have to go once a week? My mammogram got canceled yesterday, they had 2 technicians call in sick, so they didn't have one there to do them. Damn, I was looking forward to getting it overwith. It's definately the kind of thing you like to have overwith instead of looking towards. So now I have to wait until November 14th.
Blargh!

Bleck, that sucks!

Sunday was fine, it was still tiring and boring, but it's a lot better with only one day there per week. We'll see how it goes....
