I'm feeling a bit smug, today.

I woke up early (*gasp!*), and actually had time and inclination to dress up - a skirt, sweater, my kickass!boots, and my favorite earrings, instead of my usual jeans, sweater and go routine. I had cheesecake for breakfast (what? erynn_lasgalen brought it home from a job last night, and it'll go bad if we don't eat it...), and wore my gorgeous green coat, which just happens to match the pretty green plaid skirt narsilion got me for my birthday. And it's not even as cold out as I thought, so I don't have to freeze for my unusual moment of vanity!

Fics are going well, I'm up-to-date on my readings, and I've got a fair idea of what I'm writing for my little Folklore paper I have to go do now. Woo!

Edit: Turned out I lied about that last one. Options that I've thought of so far are "The Ash Grove" (difficult as I don't have the exact text that maymargaret sang), nekokoban's and my frequent renditions of "Boys of Bedlam," or the Serenity-day rendition of the Ballad of Jayne. I'm damned tempted by this last one, as it'd be fun as all hell to "interpret the meaning of the song to the singer(s)" as my assignment orders... and honestly, after writing a thesis on Tolkien, I suppose I can't get a hell of a lot geekier, can I?

Whee, I'm glad the skirt fit! Technically it wasn't a birthday present though, the skirt was a "just because". The others were birthday presents.

It fits very well. Bit high in the waist, but it still looks good, and I never tuck things in anyway, so it doesn't really matter. ;)

I know, I know, but it just made more sense to describe it that way, since I got it on my birthday.

It's okay - I ended up being too amused to not write on the Ballad of Jayne. Besides, he said he was interested in why people sing... nothing's more interesting than a theater full of geeks singing a folk song from a TV show, right? ;)
