Alright. I've looked everywhere I can think of. I've taken a break to go grocery-shopping, and come back fresh, with new ideas, all of which completely failed to pan out. I've double-checked the obvious, and poked my head in a few spots where I'd never imagine it could be.

I can't find my damned course-pack!!!

What do you folks all do when you lose something? I'm willing to try just about any little ritual or trick, at this point.

Well, you know all my little tricks for finding things. Good luck with that. :/

Thanks. Haven't got any milk or bottlecaps to spare at the moment, but I may get desperate soon enough.... *hugs*

Any pins or anything you could use instead? Bobbypins are a nice substitute in dire times.

I may have to try that, then.

Sorry, I don't have any tricks, I usually look everywhere I can think of, move everything around so I can look under things, take a break as you did, then come back fresh and try again.
I know this sounds silly, but I have to ask. You checked, like the bottom reaches of your back-pack just in case right? Sometimes in mine that I use for work, something is in there, even though I KNOW I should have seen it if it was because it's something big. But when I, in frustration and panic take everything out, there it is, smooshed at the very bottom. Good luck. I hope that, at this point, it's already been found.

I use the shoulder-bag, now - haven't used the backpack for anything but groceries all quarter, and believe me, I know when something as big as a course pack is in that shoulder-bag. Too small to lose something that size in.

It hasn't been found. I'm going to have to borrow from someone.

Any luck at all?

I'm assuming you've asked one of your housemates to help you look and that hasn't helped. So...

Stop looking. That's my advice. It'll turn up. Seriously. It's not 100% effective, but it will give you a chance to breathe.

*hugs* Hears hoping your coursepack turns up soon.

Yeah - I figure I might have to borrow from someone in the class for the next few days, so I can catch up in my readings, but for the moment... I can't keep beating my brains out for nothing. *hugs* Thanks!

Yeah...the best way for me is usually just to stop looking and come back to it later. It's usually in the dumbest place. Maybe, after you've waited a bit, start by looking in the place you'd never, ever put it. The gremlins take it and put it there for you, helpful beasts that they are.

The most unlikely spot ought to be pretty interesting to figure out. I already did my usual trick of informing my cat that he'd better spit it back out. Anything missing is blamed on the cat eating it, in our house. ;)

Blame it on the cat! Why didn't I think of that?

Next time my wife loses her keys, I'm saying the cat ate them. :)

Most likely you didn't think of it because your cat is not quite so immense as mine... When your cat is 14 pounds, it becomes a lot easier to believe he's gobbled up just about anything that turns up missing. It's convenient, if slightly disturbing. :)
