So, the word is that Tim Minear (the co-producer of Firefly, if I recall correctly), has been speaking a bit about planned episodes that weren't filmed. I'd heard mention of the title of one, but haven't yet been able to track down anything else... and now there's more. It matches some of what Whedon's said in the past, but I can't help but be a bit... er... well, parts of it strike me as distinctly implausible, for reasons that are mostly outlined in others' comments to the post.

Until this is confirmed by Whedon, I'll be taking it as something between vague possibility and scurrilous gossip, thanks.

Methinks the good fellow is yanking our chains on some of those details, at the very least. Still, there's potential... How much you wanna bet this becomes The Big Trend in fic for the next few weeks? The syringe and its potential meaning has been on my mind, lately, too, I admit, but I'd considered this theory (which I've heard before) to be the least probable of any, honestly. And I can't imagine Mal saying what that describes, not even at his worst. Maybe I'm giving him too much credit, but there it is.

...Anyway, off to write fic of the not-breaking-Inara variety.

I know it's not even early, but I didn't quite follow what you were saying.
Is it that they are saying they're going to film more episodes and put them directly to DVD, or am I totally missing the mark. Sorry, I must not be very with it this a.m. Maybe that's just totally wishful thinking on my part?

Don't worry about it, I was probably being unclear.

No, this would've been an episode they were planning to make, back before the series ended. A script concept that got scrapped when the show was cancelled.

Like make it and put it out on DVD.

Oh, no - from what Whedon's said, there will either be a sequel movie (if Serenity makes enough money) or no more at all. With exception of comic books, possibly.
