new year

Getting really pissed off about having to fix the timestamp on all my entries. No, it is not 5:30 in the morning on Monday. *Growls at LJ* And, for the record, my computer still displays the correct time. She's just having fun fucking with LJ's head, I guess.

New Years: Had fun, went out to dinner with folks and then out to a party where I caught up with old friends, introduced old friends to newer friends with delightful results, and drank waaaaaay too much. Flirted a bit with one rather cute (though a bit young o_O) guy, but mostly spent the night chatting, dancing, and being tipsy. zinjadu was very kind to put up with me, and even go so far as staying with me at the house so I wouldn't freak myself with being alone.

Today: More hanging out, this time with the additions of the newly-returned ratzeo, sigelphoenix, and chasdini, who is marooned here since the dorms don't open til tomorrow. Lots of the usual geekery, and I'm engaged in the delightful pass-time of finding all the shit crazy-girl left around the house. Including $2, which fell out of the laundry she so thoughtfully left in our washer. I was nice - I dried them before bagging the junk and sticking it in her old room to give to her next time she's by, and just took the soppy dollars as my toll for the inconvenience. If I were a bad person, I'd take the watch she left in the bathroom. Lucky for her, a) I'm morally opposed to such... and b) it's too big, anyway.

Tomorrow: Hanging out with the male half of the parental equation, hoping to find the last of my books used somewhere other than U-Books... generally getting in a last gasp of relaxation before the quarter starts all-too-damned-early on Tuesday.

The UW is really bad about starting right away after the New Year - it's because we're on a quarter system, rather than semesters, I guess.

I'm taking "Archaeology of the North," which hopefully will include areas other than the tiny island in Alaska where the prof does his research, "Native North American Societies," and basic statistics (a requirement for all anthropology majors). The first two should be fun, the third... shouldn't kill me. ;)

I got them from U-Books in the end. *Sighs* Nasty expensive textbooks. I love that we're using really up-to-date material, but the whole "published in 2005" thing is really kind of bad for the budget.
