cellphone evil, and other things
Feb. 27th, 2006 10:19 amThings appear to be stupid this morning. Things like lecture, spam email, and my cellphone. Why my cellphone? Because it did that "I'm working great and I have 100% of my battery filled! Oh, wait, actually I'm DEAD" thing again this morning. Literally. 6:40 this morning it rang like it's supposed to for my 'warning' alarm (the one that gets me out of bed, 'cause I have to turn it off)... but by 8am when I checked it at the bus-stop, it had turned itself off and won't respond to anything I do to it. I would really like to know why that happens.
Oh, and my right wrist is being supremely fucky. Yet another mystery of my life that just crops up again and again.
In other news, it looks like I've got another busy week shaping up. There's talk of going out for beers and jazz at Romio's across the bridge on Thursday night, and on Friday night I'm maybe going to skip the ADP and head out to Phinney Ridge (which is actually not so far away, it turns out, from looking at a map...) to a contra dancing thing the local Browncoats group is meeting at. Because, hey, I like dancing, and I need to get out more. *Wibbles nervously* Local folks, is anybody interested in coming along?

Date: 2006-02-27 07:38 pm (UTC)Have fun at A&S! I'll check the calendar - I really ought to be able to make Greenspire, considering how close it is, but whether or not I actually remember to go would be another situation. I'll try! (And then I can maybe pass off the darned banner to you, finally!)

Date: 2006-02-27 07:01 pm (UTC)Troubleshooting steps:
-Plug it in. If it turns back on, it's probably the battery.
-Remove and replace the battery. If this fixes it, it's probably an issue with the contacts. Make sure nothing is broken or worn, and clean with a clean pencil eraser.
-Try swapping the battery into another same-model phone (I realize this is probably going to be difficult since you are away from the rest of the group) and see whether the issue follows the battery or the phone.
If the issue persists, I'd get a hold of the account owner (your dad?) and have him contact your provider about replacement options. Cell phones are like any other electronic device and get old and worn out, too. Although nothing works all of the time (including devices and network coverage), it's best to lower the odds of not having service so when you have an emergency.
There's also a change it's just getting jostled and the battery is slipping loose. Cell phones go through a lot of movement, whether we are talking on them or not.
