lazy sunday
Mar. 19th, 2006 10:47 pmLazy Sunday, but a productive one. I managed to get one of my books for a tenth of the price I would've paid for a used copy at the U-bookstore (I have long dreamed that someday I will walk into the textbook section, very politely ask to speak to a manager, and then calmly hold up this book. I will tell him that it was listed at his store as $19.95 used. Then I will show him the $1.98 sticker from Half-Priced Books and ask him to explain how his company justifies reaming college students up the ass for used textbooks. That is my dream), and bought myself a pair of used CDs, neatly bringing my purchase up to almost what I would have paid for that single book had I bought it at the university store. I'm rather pleased with that deal.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any of my other books, yet. I'll keep looking, but it's frustrating, particularly since I know that a few of them are pretty common.
I also watched two more episodes of Babylon 5, which I'm very much enjoying. Like most/all 90's scifi, it's impossible for me not to see all the little makeup tricks. I wanted to be a makeup artist not so very long ago and read all sorts of books and stuff on the subject. Once you've learned to see the edges of latex and the contour lines and all that... it's impossible to stop. But, hey - I still love looking at them. Must say, though, I've yet to be surprised by any of the 'plot-twists.' Hope it gets a bit more unpredictable with time.
Still no email from that classmate. Starting to feel pretty pessimistic about this.
Edit! I almost forgot - take a look at these! Hogwarts house icons with Firefly/Serenity quotes to fit!

Date: 2006-03-20 07:36 am (UTC)I still love Ivanova. And I'm constantly surprised by how much I like Londo - he's usually the complete opposite of my kind of character. He's just so... endearingly over the top.

Date: 2006-03-21 04:33 am (UTC)A Squatter's Tale - Oguine
Culture as Given, Culture as Choice - Vanderelst
Joys of Motherhood - Emecheta
And a Time to Die - Kaufman
Carried to the Wall - Hass
Dying the Good Death - Justice
Stiff - Roach
Best American Essays of the Century - Oates (ed)
Situation and the Story - Gornick
The only one I'd be fairly sure you should be able to find is "Stiff" - it was pretty popular for a while, so I'm figuring there'd be used copies available. The others are a bit more random, probably... but it's worth a try, and I'll happily pay you back for whichever you can find!
