so much to do!

Writing, School: I felt pretty good after turning in the paper to the anthropology class yesterday, but now I have to finish the rough draft of my cultural commentary for expository writing. And then I have to start editing it so it doesn't embarass me when I turn it in to my prof on Monday, and start writing the next paper for the death class, too. We're writing about the afterlife, this time. I love that class soooo much. *g*

Writing, Fandom: Zoe/Wash ficathon fic is moving along slowly, as is the Snape-fic that I keep vaguely mentioning, and I've got a few other little bits in progress for various requests. I might try to get the infamous X-Files/Highlander crossover going again. I wish I could remember where I'd put my plot notes - I had the whole darned thing outlined, which would make it a heck of a lot easier to finish.

Oh, and I blame nekokoban for this last - she pointed out 3measures to me, and I couldn't resist the temptation. Three characters, nine prompts... and no Firefly claims previously made. So I snagged Mal, Inara, and Zoe, and I'm looking forward to working with that. Mostly for my own reference, but also just for the hell of it, the prompts are:

Oh, and I have actual normal-life stuff, too. Coffee this afternoon with ursule, volunteering for Washington Weekend tomorrow afternoon, contra in the evening, party at maho_kiwi's place followed by a little date-type-thing on Saturday, and then Sunday... Sunday I think I'll pass out. Or possibly do homework. One can never tell.

More on the "Mrs Washburn" thing

I'm sorry this is totally unrelated to the subject of your post, but...Remember all that discussion we had about Zoe's name change? One other thing came to mind. Could Joss have intended that scene (the one that mentions her last name) solely to reinforce the fact that she and Wash are married? In the movie, we're constantly bombarded with new characters and Joss had to have known that it would be hard for new viewers to keep up and remember all the relationships among the characters. (I didn't catch on that Z/W were a pair till the 2nd time the hint was dropped in the film). So maybe in that one scene, he thought he'd have Zoe's last name be shown as Washburn to remind the newbie audience of who she's married to.

Just a thought.

That's a really good point - Joss did spend quite a bit of energy throwing in lines there with the sole purpose of introducing the necessary facts of the series, and later reaffirming them in case people had forgotten. I think you're probably exactly right on this.
