I can't figure out when it could have happened, but Theo got outside tonight and I can't find him. Thoughts and prayers would be very very very much appreciated. I know he's probably just hiding somewhere close by, but he's not allowed outside and I, stupid as I am, have been letting him go without his harness lately, so he doesn't have his tags on. He's still got his microchip, but that'll only help if he's actually taken to the shelter.

I'm totally not up for sleep, but I'm going to try to go to bed for a few hours and get up again just before dawn, to look for him in the quiet, after he's gotten hungry. We (the whole house, many thanks to the housemates) looked for an hour after we realized he was gone, but no luck. If I haven't found him by the time I'd leave for work tomorrow, I'm calling in sick so I can go around knocking on doors. Maybe he got lost and cried at the wrong door, like cats sometimes do at ours, and someone took him in.

I should have put that stupid harness back on the very morning after he got it off, I was just so confused that he'd gotten it tangled somehow. And then he seemed fine without it, and he wasn't making for the door like he used to, so I figured it'd be okay. Stupid stupid stupid. And I don't even know when he got out - how could I not have noticed that he wasn't around? I'm just so used to him disappearing for naps or whatever, I didn't think of it until it was time for bed, and then... I know he was sleeping in my room at about 7, when I was one the phone with dad.

I really want my kitty back.

Oh no, Jen! I'm definitely thinking good thoughts in the way of you and Theo!

*hugs*

Thanks. *Hugs* I found him on the porch this morning, but he ran away again, so... we're still at a stalemate. I'm hoping he'll get hungry soon and decide to come back to the door.

I hope kitty comes home ok...I'm sure he will. If my beautiful but dim pom could go on a little jaunt and make it home ok then Theo will too. *hugs*

Thank you. It seems that he's been in our backyard the whole time, but he still won't come out after I scared him accidentally first thing this morning by opening the door when I saw him. :( Silly kitty.

Saying a prayer for Theo.

I'm thinking good thoughts. I have a feeling that he'll turn up. These really hopeful songs keep playing on my MP3.
I lost my dog that same way a few years back. :( I hope your luck turns out better than ours. I was so pissed when she ran away. I had to be angry to keep from being sad. -sniff-

Thank you. *Hugs* He's in our backyard somewhere (thankfully, it's fenced in and all), but he's hiding in the copious amounts of brush that we let overgrow the back half of it, so... argh. There's a can of food back there, and I keep peeking out my window to see if he's been lured back out again.

OH Darling! Don't worry! My cat, Jasper, disappeared on the night of the third of July. He was gone the whole night and then didn't show up the next morning for food, which was very odd as he is a little fatty and can't really catch food for himself and loves to eat. We didn't see him the entire day and we even banged a knife on the edge of a can of food but he didn't come. I know some cats go out for a few days at a time, but he's not one of them. And he (just like your cat) recently wrestled his way out of his collar and we just never put it back on him so he had no identification. When it got around dusk and people started setting off fireworks I got really worried because I thought he'd be terrified out there by himself with all the noise and the lights. I walked around my entire neighborhood but I never saw him. I was anxious the entire night and kept opening the door randomly and sometimes walking a few houses either way, but I never saw him.

So at like midnight guess who comes waltzing in the front door? He was perfectly fine. Just had a little adventure ^.^ I know you're anxious now, but I'm sure it'll work out fine. [HUGS]

Also, my small dog, you can see a few pictures of her here if you scroll down, she's a little stupid. Okay, a lot stupid. And she goes running off all the time, sometimes for hours at a time, and makes it back just fine. ^_^

....The good news is, even when completely frustrated by the cat, I am capable of being roused to twitchy giggles by the sight of Sid being a moron. That... I don't think I have words for that icon.

Anyway. My cat's an idiot; he was on the porch this morning, all lumped up and looking miserable, but when I opened the door it scared him (umm... it's creaky) and he ran like a bat out of hell back into our bushes. *Headdesk* So, still no kitty, but I've got a damned good concept of where he is, now, at least. I just have to wait for him to come back out.

bwahaha yeah, I love him and all of his glory XD

HOORAH!! See? Cats are total nerds. He's fine ^.^ I'm so glad to here it. Is that him in your icon? He's so so adorable!!!

Me too. XD

They are. And he will be, just as soon as he quits being dumb. No, the kitty in the paperwork icon is just a random one I found a picture of online. I'll post a picture of him when I get home from work. He's also orange, but fluffier than the icon kitty, and he has pretty white markings. Also, he's huge. 15 pounds of bossy lion-kitty.

My cat's really big too. It's not fat though. All muscle says the vet. Which kind of creeps us out. When does he find the time to work out? o.O

Turns out he's in our back yard, and probably has been the whole time. Unfortunately, he's still hiding - I caught him out once, but scared him accidentally and can't seem to coax him back out of the (copious amounts of) bushes.

Thank you. He's around here, hiding in the backyard (which is worse than it sounds, given the state of our yard...), so I just have to wait, it looks like. Not much else I can do, unfortunately.

I hope he's waiting on the porch when you wake up! *hugs* Also, check UNDER the porch. I found Sebastion there one morning after he got out the previous night, hiding in the porch's rafters.

Just updated - he was there, but our back door is so loud that it scared him when I tried to go get him. So now we're playing the waiting game, with a can of food and his toy as 'bait.' And I'm praying I can grab him when he finally deigns to come out again.

OHHHH! I FREAKED when Lilly got out of our house we lived in on 5th Ave in Seattle, because she's a darter, and I could just see her dashing in front of one of the bajillion cars that use that street every day. After I chased her around the house 20 or so times, though, and sat on the front steps crying, she came up to me to nuzzle, and went back inside on her own accord. She knew how worried I was. Cats always know, little buggers.

*hug* I wish I'd seen this last night, so I could have sent that little extra bit of support before now, but I was in major cleaning mode. I see now that he's been spotted at least, so here's hoping he's back inside and safe very soon.

5th Ave? Holy crap. Theo's not much of a darter, he just kind of... apparently he hides when he's scared. As you saw, he's hiding somewhere in our backyard... so now it's just a nasty game of waiting.

I was tempted to just sit out on the porch last night, but we had no idea where he was, and now I really wish I'd done that, because he probably would have done exactly that. Next time, following instincts. Damn.

That has happened a few times with my cat. The first time she was gone for nearly two days before she came back. She was hiding in the underbrush right next my apartment and waited until night to attempt to come back. Your cat knows how to get home. My suggestion is leave a window open at night. If you can handle it, wait up at night for him with your door open. Talk to the people around you. Knock on apartment doors and houses and such--don't worry, people are sympathetic to other people who have misplaced their pets.

He'll come back.

Yeah, that's pretty much what Theo seems to be doing. He's hiding out in the blackberry bushes that have taken over the back half of our yard, and any time he comes out and I go to him, he runs and hides again. I'm hoping he'll sneak in of his own accord, eventually.
