Today would be a really good day for me to write fic, if I could just get over the neurotic fear that I will be OMG FIRED if I'm caught writing on the job. Also, it is unlikely I'd get any of my prompts from people done because my brain has been thoroughly eaten by B5 and that is now all I can think of in fandom-world... and yet I'm completely without bunnies because everything I think of might very well be contradicted in the next episode. Or made canonical in the next episode, depending.

I might still try. I can only read so many online news articles before my brain starts crying out for more interesting work.

Edit: When I'm tempted to read Billy Graham's advice column out of desperation for entertainment, it's time to give up on pride. Okay, people, I'm begging you - please prompt me for short fic, character or pairing + some detail or situation, any fandom of mine except Firefly. Many apologies and much guilt, but I'm burned out on Firefly at the moment. It'll come back soon, I'm sure, but for now, there's no point in my forcing the matter. *Shamelessly bumps post forward*

I rarely can write fic at work. Email, blog, LJ, read news, but reading and writing fic never seems to work. I think because I get too lost in 'the zone' and tune out too much of the office around me, or because I'm constantly thrown out by work type stuff :)

I've never tried yet (although I occasionally manage to write on my lunch break), but today the office is so empty that I'm willing to give it a go.

...Of course, this means that as soon as I get an idea I like, something will happen that requires my immediate and complete attention for a good while. But hey - it's worth a go.

I had a moment like that last week. I was left all alone, I had nothing to do, so I wrote a smutty drabble [g] Figured I deserved something nice for being deserted!

That one's kind of a big project. I'll see if I can get progress done on it, but most of it has to be done at home since that's where the rest of the file is.

I also don't write fic at work. It just seems like they could legitimately bust you for that and I don't want to risk it. The only time I did it was when they sent me to Orlando for 5 days, I had to work a booth, but the time I spent not working I was in my hotel room and feeling entitled to write on my company laptop because they were the ones who shipped me out for a few days.

I'm sad to hear that you're less into Firefly but I hope the interest will come back. Ah, if only more than 15 eps and 1 movie had been made!

Exactly. I haven't, and probably still won't - practically the instant I posted this, it seems like, I had a ton of things that needed handling. But at least now I can be plotting them in my head...

I'm not worried - I'm sure I'll be back onto it soon, I'm just distracted by a new shiny for the moment. Getting my DVDs back and introducing them to a friend soon ought to help, too. ;)

Oh dear. This is one of those things where half of me is going "YAY!" while the other half is thinking "holy crap, how much longer can I really keep this up?"

But, hey, at least I won't have to panic over the cliffhanger for long, I guess...
