NaNo stuff

Fingers hurt from knitting, but I'm learning how to make socks, and that makes me very happy.

NaNo Count: 16,997. Alas.
Update: about half an hour later (and fifteen minutes late to bed), I've got 18,012. Better. Much better.
I'm caught in a moral struggle over whether or not to count writing that's done outside the novel. I could really use the additional words, particularly since I have fic that absolutely must be done this week, but... it feels like cheating. Which immediately tells me that I shouldn't. I won't feel like I really did it if I do it by 'cheating.' But damn damn damn damn damn would it be nice to have those extra words that I wrote the other night. More than a thousand of them. And more coming later, too, on things that really do need to be written. And I won't be getting much of anything done this weekend, for good reasons, but nonetheless...

I could push out a little bit more tonight, but I've been having a hard time waking up on time already this week. I really don't need to make that worse. I think I'm going to push over 17,000, then call it quits for the night.

Yay, socks! I'm about to abandon my socks-in-progress to make a gift for someone, then fingerless gloves and a hat for myself, and then back to the poor socks.

Yay socks! It's kind of embarassing for me - I've only been knitting a few years, and this is my first project more complicated than a plain scarf. Mostly because I finally have someone around who was patient enough to teach me to purl... and lives with me, so if I forget or get messed up, I can run to her to figure out how to fix it.

But yes, as much as I would like to be able to count fic as well, I think we both have to resign ourselves to saying no to cheating. XD;;;

I tried to make my own, but it didn't work out. So I had to resort to one of the pre-mades, and this was the only one I liked. It just shows we... umm... both have good taste? Anyway, I didn't gank this one from you, I ganked it from the artist. So :P

It's really the ficathon thing that I Must Have Finished this weekend that's bothering me. I know it's going to take at least another thousand for me to bring it round to conclusion and that, in the context of NaNo, makes me go "but... but... WAH!" But I will survive. I am too much of a person-who-doesn't-cheat to cheat. *Sighs*

Yay is right. I was soooo tired after I finished. And this thing is going all kinds of weird, plotless places. But whatever. It's being written, that's all that matters. XD

Yeah. I'm glad the fic I do/have done, is for the eventual 20_inkspots thing. So no pressure. :D

Sounds about right. And I can't remember if it came directly across my friendslist, or if someone linked to the collection... I have a lot of NaNo people on my f-list this year.

Heh. Yeah... mine's... uh... has to be finished on the 19th. And it's about 3/4 finished, but pretty much all that's left is the hard part. I did too much intro. And now I'm freaking out about it, kind of. I know I can do it, I just have to push past my inner censor, which keeps screaming "no, no, bad, you can't do this!!!" It's like writing that darned River/Zoe fic all over again. :P

Probably exactly as awful as mine. It turns out that I'm writing some kind of... whacked out lesbian sci-fi version of Jane Eyre. Not exactly what I'd set out for, but... hey, why not, I guess. *confused*
