I went to the zoo today, and there were so few people there that several of the animals were noticeably surprised to have a person watching them. Like... they actually noticed - unusual for zoo animals. And really kind of intense, particularly in the case of the lions. You really haven't lived until you've had a pair of lions not-very-far-away staring at you very intently. Tiny mammal hindbrain goes "eep!" The male got bored of me pretty quick, but the female just Kept On Staring until I finally kind of... bowed my way out of the viewing area and left her to her privacy.

Aaaaaand, this may be tricky, as I'm kind of out of touch with several of these fandoms, and tend only to hide in specific corners of the ones I'm involved in, but hey... it still looks like fun! Gacked from stormkpr and reve_lucide:

Buffy's such a big fandom, I kind of feel like I don't know enough of it to know what opinions are unpopular, but I'll give it a shot!

I'd say that my most unpopular opinion is probably that I don't think Giles has any sexual attraction to any of the kids, not even of the repressed kind. And with exception of Willow, I don't think any of them have ever had any kind of attraction to him.

Maybe I just think that's common opinion because I read mostly fic about Giles, though...

Yeah, that's the thing with a fandom that big. At least in Firefly, I have a concept of what everybody is doing. It's not so big that I can't be vaguely aware of the general trends and such.

Ooo... probably my biggest unpopular opinion is that I really don't like Miles that much. Not like I hated him or anything, but his episodes bored me to tears unless he was hanging out with Julian. As a corollary to that, I never once thought Miles and Julian had anything sexual going on, not even tension-wise. Miles is way too straight for that, IMHO.

Also, I liked Jadzia and Worf. That one's still unpopular, right? *Thoughtful*

The big one? I genuinely think that all the men of Serenity are straight. Mal and Simon in particular. Soverystraight.

Jayne might have sex with a man, but he'd have to be horribly drunk, horribly horny, and would deny it up and down the next day. Also, he'd have to top. Wash might've done back in flight school or something, but I think of him now as Zoe-sexual. ;)

Yeah, I'm not into Firefly slash in any sort of way (which is funny, because I'm actually pretty good LJ-friends with ana_grrl, who's written a good chuck of the Firefly slash out there, and we co-mod a BSG slash pairing comm together). But yeah. Not so much with the believable, that one.

They're all straight, those men -- well, except for Simon. :p

Eh, pairings and friendships sometimes seem to matter fairly little, as long as neither person is neurotic about that being the Only Way Possible.

I still say, people don't fuss and freak out and stutter that much if they're not genuinely attracted. ;)

Hmmmm... I kind of feel bad on this one, since I've made everybody listen to my ramblings about B5 so frequently!

Outside of liking Lochley and thinking that Sheridan mostly succeeded as a leader because he made a good heroic figurehead for everyone else to work around and behind... I think my most unpopular opinion is that I prefer to ignore any 'canon' that happened outside the 5-year span of the series. Teep war? What teep war?

...That's kind of lame, as probably a lot of people do that. But I can't think of anything else that I haven't pounded home a zillion times!

The short answer is that I'm odd for not particularly liking Harry. For me, he's like a vehicle that the rest of the story floats around... but I just can't get around to liking him all that much. He's too much a teenage boy, and those tend to make me grit my teeth and scream "you idiot!!!"

...Also, in my mind, Sirius was mostly straight (and a bit of a lady's man). Very unpopular opinion, that first bit.

I'm going to get myself slapped by the whole rest of the fandom on this one... but I'm not a fan of Duncan and Methos as a couple. I see the tension, I see all the maybe-more-than-friends moments... and it just falls flat for me, except as a joke.

No big deal - I've read it done well, and I know a lot of people like it, it's just not the thing for me. *g*

I certainly won't slap you, 'cause then I'll have to slap myself. Don't see them as a couple, too. I can't see even any sexual tension. Only scenes that could be reinterpreted as containing such if someone really, really wanted them to =)
