smut. argh.

Other people need to write smut for my favorite pairings, so that I don't have to. (I hate trying to write smut. I always feel like such a moron.)

Also so that I don't occasionally feel tempted to read Really Bad Things because they include one character that I adore, and one character who the very thought of in association with sex (particularly with the afore-mentioned character) gives me hives.

I miss fandoms where I thought pretty much everyone was hot. Like Firefly. Everybody in Firefly is hot, and there are several (canonical and non-) pairings that totally make me go quivery and happy. Whereas... on the other hand... there is Buffy. Wherein I find a grand total of four characters attractive. Giles, Jenny, Spike, and Dru. Yes, really. Dru. I realize this makes me slightly... broken. Something about her just seems to push my buttons. Possibly it's the "oh-god-she-could-totally-kill-me" thing. I have a history of being irresistibly drawn to dark-haired female characters who could kill me with their pinkies.

I'm trying not to think about what this says about my sub-conscious.

...And my train of thought just got totally derailed by "Fantasies Come True" from Avenue Q. There are some mental images that just... It's like psychological ice water. Eagh.

Back to desperately trying to poke my story into submission...

Note: First statement of the post definitely not meant to be taken seriously... although if anybody should happen to do so (or find me links) I would love them pretty much forever. I miss being in fandoms that weren't so damned big or hard to navigate. :P

I have a really hard time writing smut (as you may have read in my LJ). Mostly because when I read it I think it looks goofy and I don't want other people reading goofy smut and knowing I wrote it.

Yup, that's pretty much exactly the problem. Why I don't worry nearly as much about everything I write looking stupid, I'll never understand. I suppose that's a "be grateful for small favors" kind of thing, isn't it?

It is so incredibly true that everyone on Firefly is hot. The crew just kind of drips sex.

And yeah, the crew of Buffy? Not so much. I also loved Jenny though, and Giles - tho for some reason had no desire to read/write smutfic on them.

They are, and they do! I've been spoiled on fandom forever by that lot, I think. ;)

I think my biggest problem with Buffy is that they're mostly teenagers, and teenagers and sex... for me, ick. As for Jenny and Giles... don't worry, you're not the only one. Of the handful of fic I've found, only two had any smut at all. Maybe it's to do with the fact that they never really got to that point in canon?

B5: Susan/Talia, Susan/Delenn. Or, for that matter, Susan/Marcus, but I understand that the rest of the fandom is bored of that. I still think there's untapped potential. ;)

Firefly: I'm having a weird Zoe/Inara sort of hankering lately... possibly including Mal, even though I once swore I couldn't see that. Also, I'm always curious whether I'm the only person who saw potential in Zoe/River post-Serenity. And I'm always looking for good Mal/Inara or Zoe/Wash.

I can't recall whether you're at all a fan of Buffy, so I won't poke on that subject.

At times I really wish I was less restrained by canon, because I have real trouble writing either Susan/Talia or Susan/Marcus for that reason. ;) And I don't really see Susan/Delenn. But if I come across any 'fic I'll point you thataway. For example, have you seen this?

And for some strange reason I'm left totally unbunnied by Firefly. *headshake* Weird.

And no, I haven't seen Buffy. Well, the movie. ;)

I know the feeling. I occasionally manage to fight off my inner canon-whore, but for the most part I'm sadly restricted to the bits that can fit in between the lines.

...Sometimes with liberal use of a crowbar to part the lines, mind you. But still vaguely within the lines. ;)
