plays, writing, and weather
Oct. 1st, 2007 02:32 pmTwelfth Night at the Seattle Rep was predictably fantastic, complete with even more slashy subtext than usual (an impressive feat, with this play!), and the expected impressive sets, great acting, etc. I even managed not to freeze or fall asleep on the way home, which was a bonus given that I'd a) succumbed to vanity and worn a teeny dress and heels, and b) been tired all day long and not looking forward to being out late on a Sunday night. Heck, I even managed to wake up on time today (minus the usual laying in bed whining to the cat about not wanting to get up) which I regard as a minor miracle. So yay!
Also, I just signed myself up for a 20,000-word-minimum Doctor Who fic-fest (but the deadline isn't until March! So I'll be fine! ...I hope!). I'm hoping it'll help me get over my trama regarding long-form writing. Well... that, and NaNoWriMo, which is sneaking up on me at an alarming rate. o_O Either way, I realize that long-form is something I need a lot more work at, so I'm putting forth effort on the matter. And really, the Tardis fic I wrote not long ago was 20,000+ words, and that didn't take all that long... and my 30,000+ Buffy opus that has yet to see the light of day didn't take that long to finish... so all survive. ;)
Lastly, could Seattle weather perhaps give a bit more warning when it changes drastically? Over the weekend I had to wear my heavy wool coat and hat, and my feet got soaked whenever I went out... so today I wore my heavy scarf and my knee-high boots, so guess what? It's bright and sunny. *Headdesk*
And, finally, I am back to thinking that I should apply for graduate school in Archaeology. This is, I'm sure, a terrible idea. But I have a nagging suspicion that if I do anything else, I'll always wish I'd done that. So.
...Now I just have to get 'round to actually figuring out application processes and which schools to try for and all that. Bleh.

Date: 2007-10-01 10:15 pm (UTC)Good luck with grad school! I occasionally consider it, probably a low-residency in creative writing, or getting a second BA/BS in a technical/computer-related degree. But time and money stay my hand for now. :D
