on the buying of things, and such
Oct. 7th, 2007 09:57 pmHad a very productive weekend, particularly in the Buying of Things department. I managed to find not only socks and underwear-that-fits-me (a relatively rare thing), a few nice headbands to keep my hair out of my face, and cheap-but-warm wool gloves, but, best of all, a new winter hat - a beautiful brown fedora bought at a specialty hat store. I'm completely in love with this thing. It's so cute!
And then, today, I popped out for groceries as a brief break in my stay-in-the-house day, and found a really pretty white Edwardian-style dress in white muslin. Normally I wouldn't buy such a thing (I don't need costumes! ...I just love them!), but this one was only $18 at the charity shop down the street, and it's perfectly pristine white, doesn't look like it was ever worn. The lace at the collar scratches a bit, but it's gorgeous on, fits like a glove, and looks especially stunning if I wear my white corset to flatten my waist down a bit. So... now I just need a reason to have a dress like that. Ah well. Can't pass up a thing like that.
Anyway, it was all around a lovely weekend - spent last night out with
miss_arel and her dad, as well as the usual crew of friends I don't see often enough, and that was wonderful. And then today I was lazy, stayed in the apartment, and wrote for most of the day. So I have some of the birthday fics I promised done! Go me!
...And now I really ought to go to bed. I slept in entirely too much last week, and I want to start this week off on the right foot.
More tomorrow, possibly including a review of The Second Coming with Christopher Eccleston and all of R.T. Davies' usual actors. For now I'll just say that it was fun, if very strange.
