Had a lovely lovely afternoon yesterday at
ursule's place, hanging out and playing with the kitties and chatting with fun people, and on Saturday I had a great time with my dad doing lunch, walking around the lake and getting some financial stuff figured out. And we cleaned up the apartment a good bit Saturday morning. Those three things definitely make up for the fact that I otherwise had a very unproductive weekend - almost no writing got done. But I think I know where I'm headed next, and I have some editing ideas that will hopefully make the whole thing move a lot smoother, so... *Crosses fingers*
One other thing that got done over the weekend... I bought a jacket for the con-cosplay. Complete change of plans from the plan that I've been sharing with everybody, but I think it's going to work very well, and I'm really really excited about it. Long story short, I've taken to heart my initial comment that I'd have to do more of the "President Romana" look than anything from the actual episodes. Think of this image from the Shada webcast as sort of the inspiration, though I'll be going in a different direction than that exactly. As in, there won't be giaganta-shoulders, for one thing. Anyway. I remembered there were these really pretty jackets at a boutique at Pike Place, that I've been eyeing for years and had recently joked looked like Time Lord fashion if it were somehow done right in terms of actually... well, looking good. So I thought, "hey, why not take a look, just for fun?"
Turns out, they were having a big clearance. So I have a gorgeous brown brocade jacket, mid-thigh length with a phenomenal high, rounded collar and lovely gold patterning. I'll take pictures eventually, and there's a few other bits of the costume that I mean to be putting together. If I happen to run into something for a more "traveling outfit" type costume for cheap, I'll make two days' worth of costumes, but as it is, I have a beautiful costume piece that can be worn for any other kind of fancy event, and I am pleased.
Yay, only 3 hours left of work and I get to go home! I may not like getting up at 5am, but leaving at 4 is going to be glorious! (We're on holiday schedule today.)
