rivendellrose: (Seattle rain)

Up until about 7pm yesterday, it had been bright and sunny and hot for almost a week.

At 7pm, as I got off the bus, I thought, "Gee, the sky looks awfully grey and heavy... and the air is thick. It doesn't smell like it yet, but I bet we're going to get a thunderstorm."

Ten minutes later, the thunder started. Half an hour, and it was raining. Then it cleared up a little, but stayed really muggy and hot... And at about midnight I got woken up by a fantastic thunderstorm. I would've been in heaven if it weren't for the assholes in the apartment above us yelling each time the thunder crashed, but even they couldn't quite ruin it - I love a good storm.

Unfortunately, it's still rainy and grey, so I have a feeling we're not going to get the warm and sunny 4th of July that we'd been hoping for. Oh well.

damniittttt I missed it! The thing I was sad about most leaving TX is that I've never seen a good thunderstorm in Seattle, when they're quite violent here! Oh, well. :) Too bad your neighbours ruined it for you.

Maybe we'll have more? There were few good ones last summer after the 4th, so there's still hope!

Bah, even these neighbors can't ruin a good storm for me, and... we're pretty used to wishing they'd shut up, honestly. It was just worse last night 'cause I think they were on their balcony, and I had my window open.

Yay for storms. (: I got a teeny baby one in Ashland.

I hate it when it rains on a holiday. Here's hoping it clears up before tomorrow.

The storm woke me up, too, because I'd left my window open. It's been a long time since I've experienced a good thunderstorm - nothing quite like reveling in the crashing and rain when you're tucked safely in bed. ♥

Thunderstorms are the only thing I miss about the Midwest. The one last night pales in comparison. Still, it was rather nice in its own way. :)

I concur about missing thunderstorms in the midwest. I remember tons in Michigan and is one reason I miss that place.

In the Renton/Bellevue area, it kept up until about noon.
I'm with you, love the thunderstorms!

Oh, wow. That's entirely too awesome.

And timely, too. *points to icon* ;)

thunderstorms are the best. we were in santa cruz the last time we got one--two weeks ago--and the thunder was so loud it was like an earthquake. i especially love the ones where it's clear enough (or whatever it is that causes this) to see forked lightning instead of the enveloping flash.
