Quoted from <a href="http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2008/07/but_i_dislike_mcdonalds.php"Pharyngula</a>: "<i>Some faction of the religious right has called for a boycott of McDonald's fast-food — because they were a sponsor of the 2007 San Francisco gay pride parade. They claim it's not about hiring homosexuals, or allowing homosexuals to eat at McDonald's, or about how homosexual employees are treated, but is instead:

It is about McDonald's, as a corporation, refusing to remain neutral in the culture wars. McDonald's has chosen not to remain neutral but to give the full weight of their corporation to promoting the homosexual agenda, including homosexual marriage.</i>"

1. I swear, the next time I hear the words "homosexual agenda" or "gay agenda" NOT as a joke, I'm just going to scream.

2. Moral crisis: I hate McDonalds and all that they stand for. But I also support gay marriage and rights, and really like to encourage major corporations to do the same... and if it pisses off the religious right, so much the better! But... but I hate McDonalds! So confusing! Can't decide whether to applaud or feel annoyed!

<small>This post made mostly in jest. But seriously, wtf? <strike>And where will all the trailer-trash religious-righters eat all their meals if they can't eat at McDonalds?</strike></small>

Yeah, this has left me wondering what stance to take. People here have been boycotting McDonalds since the early 90s because of some African agribusiness deal that I never really looked into, but it's the trade union skeeviness that has really made me get my milkshakes from the other place. But I'd like to support this support of theirs! I had a similar moral conflict over bananas that funded both children's hospitals and paramilitaries. Choises, choises.

I'm of the stance that one can applaud what the company is doing without supporting them financially. Its what I'm doing.

You know, I hate their food but McD's is great on LGBT issues. They are one of the only quick service restaurants to offer domestic partner benefits, one of the first to ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, they have an LGBT employee group and they donated money to the Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.

Now if only they offered a veggie burger on a whole wheat bun!

Here, perhaps these will cheer you up.

They're certainly all I can think of whenever someone starts talking about 'the Homosexual Agenda' anymore (hence why I then start smiling instead of punching them in the face, so in that sense it's good for me!)

I figure go in, get a drink, and fill out a customer satisfaction survey to say you're there specifically because of their support of GLBT issues and them telling the AFA where it can stick their boycott.

[Blinks] Culture war? We're having a war on culture now? You know, one of these days I'd love to pick up a paper and see we're declaring 'war' on famine and aids... just for a change of pace, you know.

I love the euphemisisms certain people devise to disguise their bigotry. Who do they think they're fooling? Time to point and laugh, I think.
