hellboy ii, and weekend update
Jul. 21st, 2008 08:40 amNew laptop doesn't like Wifi yet (do I ever have a computer that doesn't have problems? Of course not), so... quick weekend update before I start work!
First! Saw "Hellboy II" on Friday night, and I officially love love love love love Guilllermo Del Toro. Also, um... how eerily does Nuala (the elf princess) resemble young Lalla Ward? I would say it's just me, but
maymargaret agrees with me, and... okay, this is kind of a bad picture, but you get the idea. It's disturbing, darn it! And of course I totally ship her and Abe, because, um. I didn't at all have a crush on Abe even in the first movie when he was more or less a glorified plot device. I love them forever for making him a bigger part of this movie. Even if I did feel deeply betrayed that they didn't get David Hyde Pierce for his voice again. The new guy was good! Just... anyway. I'll stop fangirling now. Humble pie, me, eating, yes, okay... I'll be over here feeling guilty for not quite having caught onto the fact that the 'new' guy was the original guy, and, additionally, was also the Angel of Death and the Chamberlain in this movie, the Faun and the Pale Man in "Pan's Labyrinth" and one of the Gentlemen in "Hush" (BtVS). Yeah. Um... I'm so sorry, Mr. Fabulous Actor. Really, I am. And I am not at all writing psychotic fairy-tale fic involving alien-fish-elf babies.
Every movie ever made involving fairies and the fairy courts should be remade by Guillermo Del Toro, because he's really really good at it, and he gets how those kinds of stories should work. And so, I am thrilled at him doing the Hobbit. Yay.
Also this weekend was
zinjadu's birthday, which was awesome and hilarious. And a lot of walking around, and also the first part of "The War Games," which is sort of appalling in some ways but also delightful because Troughton is really really cute, and so is Fraser Hines (even if he can't do a Scottish accent worth hell).
