snow, merlin, and why history is a dangerous hobby

Made it to work today, albeit by slogging through six-plus inches of snow in places. I particularly liked the bit where the community transit bus I take once I get to the Damned Suburb Where I Work opened up its doors to let me out... directly into a pile of snow that had been bulldozed off the roads. Thanks, guys. I really felt the love as I scrambled through that. Almost as much as when I was scrambling up the sidewalk to the office that no one had bothered to shovel and, since most of the people at my office drive, which had only a few footprints in it for me to walk in. :P

That said, it's absurdly pretty up here with all the trees. ...I just hope I won't be stuck up here when I try to go home tonight. Anyway. Positive things!

Watched episodes 6 and 7 of Merlin last night, which means I'm... what, slightly more than halfway caught up? And, to my horror, shipping Uther and Morgana more every time we watch the darned thing. I blame Tony Head, and maymargaret for encouraging me. Oh, and a strange little thing called 'history,' which keeps reminding me that a) it's really weird that a noble girl Morgana's age isn't married yet, b) it's really weird that Uther hasn't re-married yet, when Arthur's mother is nowhere to be found, and c) the age difference is only creepy in modern terms, and perfectly normal by medieval standards. That makes it okay, right? *Headdesk* As soon as I get some time on a non-work computer, I have a feeling I'll be hunting for fic. Recs are welcome, should anyone care. :D

It's something to keep me busy until Doctor Who starts up again, at least.

Yay you're watching Merlin! History? Don't listen to History! The show certainly doesn't, or if it does it and history speak different languages.

But yeah, deffinitly seeingthe Uther/Morgana, but I can see most pairings in that show.

Oh, but I can't help it! It's the same thing that makes me write fanfic to fill in gaps in whatever I'm watching - I can't help picking at the inconsistent little scabs in whatever I'm watching, trying to make sense of it. It's fun! ...Right up until it makes my head hurt, at least. ;)

The pairings are pretty even, aren't they? That might be a big part of what I like the show - they leave the pairings open to interpretation. It's a nice change.

Eee! I'll have to hide from the internet until I can see it, lol.

Bleh is right. It's pretty, and I appreciate the novelty, but... the novelty's wearing off, and it's awful inconvenient. :P

I think that's why it reminds me of TW, anyone can be paired withanyone, it's just a little more explicit on TW.

I've some how managed to remain un spoiled for the Xmas special, I think it's because I've just been out of the whole of DW fandom for months, so nothing has snuck through. I'm so excited! (but it will probably be like last years - a bit shit!)

I subscribe to the picking two (or three or four) random names out of a hat school of shipping when it comes to Merlin, but yes, Uther/Morgana certainly.

Actually there's an episode further along that's shippy like whoa for them.

I admit, the whole reason I'm so set on Uther/Morgana is that I'm horribly, horribly weak to Tony Head. It's all his fault. ;)

Besides, as adorable as Merlin and Arthur and Gwen all are, I just can't get past how young they are. Morgana at least looks older, even if she's meant to be the same age as the others. That spares my "ohgod, they're just kids!" feelings a bit.
