Can I hurt Alfonso whatsisname? Can I??

Apparently some of the action figures for the PoA movie have been released. This is somehow supposed to be Moony. You know....... the WEREWOLF. He's supposed to look like a WOLF. Not a.... I don't even know WHAT the hell that was. It sure didn't look at all wolf-like, or even vaguely canine, to me.

Why is Rowling allowing this? Why?

I think I've mentioned this before, but there should be a Character Protection Agency.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Rowling, but you are no longer allowed to write these characters. They're being taken from your custody, for repeated abuses."

And people complain that *fanfic* makes characters look bad!

Well, how much control does JKR and Curazon have over the liscencing? I mean, if I'm looking for a parallel, I can think of Lucas, and he's pretty involved with all the visual aspects of the SW world, but I don't think even he has any control on what the action figures look like. I think that once Hasbro got the liscence to make the action figures, they pretty much had all the control over what they looked like. So you get things like "Ep.1 Anakin (Naboo)" with him wearing a jedi cloak, when in fact he never wore one in the movie, but Hasbro gets to make figure variations that look like whatever they want.

But I guess what I'm asking is can you really get mad at JKR and Curazon? I don't think that they have any control over that. :)

And all this is ignoring the fact that my first thought was "that doesn't look like a HP fig." Beyond the fact that is's a weirdo werewolf, it's wearing a black suit and tie. Which doesn't seem to fit the wizarding world 'look'. Do you have any other proof that this is actually one of the new toys? Any shots of the toy with it's packaging or a logo?

Honest, I'm not doubting you, I'm doubting the person who you found it from. :) It's like those first pictures that showed up on the web of the 'dementors' that were actually photoshopped ringwraiths. :)

Aaah, that was too long. Please forgive me.

Bethany,
House of Figs

It's the real deal, as far as I can tell. And it actually does look like the Monster Series action figures, the detail on it is pretty much the same as the detail on the special edition Centaur from SS. And the human head is the same cast as the first series. It's either the real thing, or an alarming coincedence.

Here's the shot with the...transforming action, I guess? Either that or he ate his own human head....

Yup, I can't see it either. Foo.

Like I said, I wasn't trying to lay blame for wrongness, I just like to get the facts straight! :)

If it's not a viable resemblance to the movie, then I apologize to Curazon (or whatever) and Rowling both. However.... I've had serious worries about how they'd deal with his transformation from the beginning. So I admit I was quick to jump to the conclusion that this was the real deal, or a reasonable facsimile thereof (allowing for general weirdness of most action figures... *shivers in memory of horrid Aragorn figure*)

As for fitting the general tone of the universe.... we already know Curazon is fucking with that.

And don't apologize for long comments - I like them. Gives me something substantial to read and reply to. Besides, I tend to write too much, too!

I dunno if I agree with that... So far, from the (one) trailer I've seen (and some stills), the look still has the same feel to it. I mean, he changed the uniforms and stuff, but they still look like British school children, you know? For me, just because the ties and scarves are different (they match the ties, just so you can practice your knitting now) doesn't mean the feel is different to me.

But then agian, I don't vist HP-land in my head quite as often as y'all do. :) ;)

I'm just being pissy over stupid stuff, I guess - it really annoys and sort of pains me to think that they'll screw up Lupin, 'cause he's my favorite character. And I'm very cranky about the random changes to detail. I hate discontinuity.

I'm actually kind of pissed that they are changing so many of the props and costumes.. like every thing. even the wands change in this one. and not in a good way.

Yup. *Nods* In my humble opinion, you don't change things in the middle of a series. It's just wrong.

There's a little thing called "continuity," people. And you're breaking it.
