You know those adorable pipefish, where the males gestate the young? Yeah. Not quite such perfect dads when you realize they sometimes absorb some of the young. Biological necessity of course, and females of a lot of species do that, too, if times are hard. But still a bit of a surprise!

Something everyone here ought to know: Girl gamers are geekier than guy gamers. ;)

I know I've been crap about posting my pics from Japan, and I really will fix that soon, but maymargaret and I ran into a bunch of carp at a lake, and I loved them... however, I'm really glad they were NOT 100 lbs, like the ones invading the Great Lakes region apparently can be. I'm not sure I'm okay with carp that weigh almost as much as I do.

Blargh. You know, the really silly thing is, I don't have a login or whatever either - it's not just you, it's that they've just recently changed their system so that you can only read the whole article if you subscribe. Which makes sense... but I didn't realize until I'd done this already. My usual method when I'm doing these is to read the headline and the beginning of an article, link to it, and then go back when I've posted and read the whole thing. Alas.

And yeah... I might be a little leery of lakes if I was you, at the moment. o_O I mean, we supposedly have huge sturgeons in the lake right by me, I guess, and there's gigantic stuff all over in Puget Sound, but... giant carp? That's a bit scary.
