I am a sucker for hot peppers. I just bought Bhut Jolokia at Pike Place.... I don't know what I'm going to cook with it yet!

I have a healthy respect for people who can eat them - I'm a total wimp when it comes to spice. I can handle about up to 3 stars in Indian or Thai food, but anything beyond that just makes me turn fuschia and run for the nearest milk and/or bread to try to stave off the effects.

Is the Baijiu a Chinese drink? If it's what I think it is, it's only superficially sake-like. Much rougher. (But I won't tell anyone :) )

Unrelated, but been meaning to ask and now I finally something to comment on. Did my Christmas card to you ever come? I was worried about postage myself this year.

Ohhhhh. That's interesting, I'll have to keep an eye out for it. I'd had both Japanese and Korean sake, so I just assumed the Baijiu (yes, it's Chinese) was the same, when I read on Google that it was a rice liquor.

And yes, I'm almost certain it did! I'm sorry - I usually remember to post a note immediately when I get things, but it must have slipped my mind somehow! So you did fine with postage.

I, however, am a moron and screwed up the postage for all my international cards, so they got sent back to me, and then I never got around to going to the post office to add the extra few cents or whatever because I am useless like that.

Oh good, I'm glad it came.

As for the Baijiu, the friend I visited in Beijing jokingly called that his test to see if people can truly handle Chinese cuisine. A little odd, since it's a drink, but whatever floats your boat. I've never had moonshine of any sort, but it's what I imagine home-distilled stuff would taste like, even if this is commercial.
